Guest guest
I wonder if one of those " wedge " shaped chair seat cushions might give you some comfort. You can get them like in the Lillian Vernon and Harriet on line catalogs. They have a little cut-out in the back of the cushion so your tailbone is not pressing down on a hard chair seat. Some of them have fleecy stuff on the outside. You can find them at other places but way more expensive. --- In , " bty63057 " <emma.collins@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I was told by someone in another forum that the people in groups > really helped them. Guest guest
Hello, My butt really hurts when I sit on a hard bench at the rodeo. So we took small pillows and sat on them. Didn't help much. So I found a special cushion at Bed Bath & Beyond that is wedge shape and has an area cut out where our " tailbones " are. Right now I use it on my hard dining room chair and it really helps. I paid about $15 for mine. My mom needs one so I wil send her one for Christmas. Guest guest
I'm afraid my butt is going to hurt next week. I went to Pain Management today and the Dr plans to inject something into my spine from the tailbone area. When he said tailbone, I asked, you mean there? Then he asked me " if I'd been married before? " I said yes. Then he said, it's not as bad as marriage. " I asked him how about labor? " It's not as bad as that either. " I really am nor looking forward to this. He said he gave his Mother two of these shots. They may have to hold me down on that bed. Guest guest
Is it an epidural that you are getting? (And how would a male doctor know about the pain of labor???) If it is an epidural, it would be painful to watch but you don't feel much because they numb the area. It took me 2 times before it helped, but it did help, so good luck and it's not so bad if it is what I'm thinking of. The only reason they might have to hold you is because there can be no movement due to the closeness to the spine. Guest guest
I agree with you Sierra. I wish I had. Just knowing he is going to give me a shot in the tailbone was scary enough. Guest guest
Try not to worry too much, anything like that is usually numbed up first. Patsy El Mirage, AZ DX 2005 Stage 1 PBC AIH/SLE/RA/COPD
Guest guest
Hello Debbie, I have two wedge shaped pillows I've had at least a couple of years. They are really very good. Mine was good until they became flat. I think I have worn them to a frazzle. I don't know how to fluff them up again so I guess I'll have to buy some more. Mine cost around $15 too. Guest guest
Hi, I'v tried sitting on those pillows, mind you, it wasnt for very long, but I didn't find them comfortable at all. Maybe it was just the one I tried. --- In , " J. L. Guest guest
You'll get a variety of responses from strangers. Some will think that it's to keep your baby from bashing his head into things, some will think he had surgery, and others will just out and out ask you why he has it on. Really, the reaction from others is a lot better than I anticipated that it would be. There are days that I just don't want to deal with it, but all in all, I try to look at it as an opportunity to educate people on plagio. My best advice would be to go out immediately and buy stickers...etc to decorate the band. That makes it look so much less medical. Also, I found for myself, that the sooner I went out with him wearing his band, the easier on me it was. I went out with him the day he got his band, while I still had a bit of the excitement of helping him out. That way, I didn't have time to dread what others would think. (I tend to get myself all worked up if given the opportunity.) Also, there is a website with really cute clothes for baby and mom (cafepress.com) with catchy phrases for those days you don't want to answer any questions. They can just read your shirt and move on!! :-) HTH. Candace, AZ mommy to Tiernan, 8 mos tort, plagio Hanger helmet 12/05/06 and Ethan, 3 yrscolleen_errington <colleen_errington@...> wrote: Hi. I try not to worry too much about what others think or say, but I must be honest and say I'm am bit worried about this. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I was braced for the worst. I guess I expected EVERYONE to say something or stare. It's been quite the opposite. We've been banding for a little over a month, and aside from children, I've only had two adults comment on it. One asked me if it was a head injury...I just explained to her that it was like braces for the teeth...this was to straighten out her head. The other person was rude and asked what I had done to my baby. I told her that I didn't think the alligator could really get hold of her that fast! LOL...I probably shouldn't have done that, but it made me feel better and she shut up. Honestly, this whole process has been so much easier than I thought, and I am thrilled with the results we are getting. I guess that's the upside of being a pessimist. Sometimes you get a pleasant surprise! Best wishes for a speedy and successful treatment! mother to , 9 mos. In STARband for 5 weeks > Hi. Guest guest
Hi , My son didn't have a CAT scan, so I can't help with that. I also don't know of any band companies in Hawaii (there must be someone?), but I do know of a woman from Hawaii who used to fly to our ortho at Cranial Therapies in LA (near Burbank). http://www.cranialtherapies.com/ If you can't find anyone in Hawaii, I highly recommend them. The location is only about 10-15 minutes from the Burbank airport. We fly from SF and they're great about giving us any appointment time that fits with our schedule. My son started his DOCband at 12 months and since he's older we only have to go in every 3 weeks for adjustments. Good luck!
