Listening to Our Bodies

It was great to get up this morning and read the many posts about " listening

to your body " . I was having a case of the guilts for not working out this

morning. I started feeling run down yesterday and associated it with my

stressful weekend and high carb eating days...even though I " knew " it was

probably a cold (one of those little mind games I play with myself...that

I'm NOT going to do anymore <G>). So my compromise was not to try the new

AL1 tape until this morning and to do about 20 minutes of my home

stair-climber at a light pace before bed.

I went to bed and set my alarm for an extra hour just in case I could make

it through the whole tape <G>. I woke up with that feeling of " it's too

light outside..uh oh. " Glanced at my alarm clock and I must have turned it

off and gone back to sleep. I had about 20 minutes to get ready for work.

When I got to work I realized why I was so drained…I'm coming down with a

head cold :( So I guess I'm glad I " halfway " listened to my body last

night.

Since I most likely won't work out today, I am putting my focus on better

eating habits. I made a bet that I couldn't post to the list until I drank

16 oz. of water...which is 16 oz. more than I usually get in a day. It took

me until noon, to get that water down, but YIPPEE I did it! Last night I

bought some Fruit20 by Very Fine and it isn't exactly water…but it is much

better than diet coke…usually by noon I've had 4 diet cokes already and

today I only had 1. I also put back the extra crackers I was going to get

for my soup and instead picked up some chicken lunchmeat to add more

protein. So little by little, I'm " getting there " to a better, healthier,

happier lifestyle!!

PS I finally made an appt. with a dr. to try a new technique called EMDR

(Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) - the theory is that your brain

stores chronic pain as a " memory " and it helps you retrain that part of the

brain to let go of the memories. The dr. says she has had quite a bit of

success with chronic pain and fibromyalgia patients.
