Guest guest
Hey : I am in your area, and it has been pretty miserable for me too. This humidity is killer. We are finally keeping the air at 80 degrees, and at least we don't let the humidity in. Hate to see this electric bill, but there is really no other way. My daughter's little pug was having problems breathing it was soooo hot, and my big fat german shepherd too! So, it was for both the animals and us that we decided to do this. It's not exactly air conditioned cool, but it is so much better than it was. That, and every fan we own is on and circulating the air. I hear there might be a break - down to the upper 90's - whooooho! Guest guest
Hey and Kathe I am so glad you are telling us about this humidity suffering, because I have been wondering what is wrong with me these days. Down here in Egypt it is boiling hot and extremely humid and I can hardly get out of bed. I am aching allover my body, as if run over by a truck, my feet are swollen and my blood pressure is around 51 over 73! But this is the first time I suffer badly because of the weather. I have been sick for the last two years and I had no problems with heat and humidity before. I usually don't toletare sitting too long in airconditioned rooms, but this year it is my life saver! Guest guest
Hi Amira, I have heard that the weather in Egypt does get very hot and very humid. I hope that you can find some relief very soon. The weather here in SO. CAL has improved somewhat and I am feeling better because of it. This is the first year that I have suffered so much because of the hot humid weather. It is also the 2nd summer that I have lived in this semi-desert area. For twelve years I lived 5 miles inland from the beach and the weather never go as hot as it does here. It just amazes me how the weather affects us so. I have a question, you said that your blood pressure was 51 or 73, that seems low to me by U.S standards. In Egypt are you on the metric system when measuring blood pressure? Take care, Hugs Amira Ramy <amira@...> wrote: Hey and Kathe I am so glad you are telling us about this humidity suffering, because I have been wondering what is wrong with me these days. Guest guest
I am in Southern California also, near Los Angeles but about 40 miles inland. The heat and humidity have been oppressive lately, we been over 100 F every day for days and it hasn't cooled off at much at night as it usually does. We had to run the air conditioning all night the last couple of nights, usually we can turn it off soon after dark, and not turn it back on until around 10-11 AM. I go back and forth from being way too hot and achey, to getting a chill from the air conditioner and being achey. No happy middle ground to be found! My feet and hands have always swelled when it is hot and humid, as long as I can remember, long before I ever heard of auto-immune disorders. We moved out here partially because I felt better, even 35 years ago. I have never noticed my blood pressure being affected, though. May I ask you a question about your country? I will be visiting Egypt in October, and am wondering how the weather will be then. Hopefully not as hot as not! Take care and stay cool! Question here about the swollen feet.I too have RA AND FIBRO and I also live in 100+ heat, in arizona and lately it has been very humid with thunderstorms, little in the way of actual rain...but lots of humidity. Last year when my feel swelled terribly at this time of year my Primary doc told me that it was just an old age thing . Im 54, I don't really consider that to be " old age " . Both of my feet are swollenn to the point where my little piggies look like sausages and I feel like they're going to break...and even the sole of the foot as well as around the ankels are swollen, It stops a bit above the ankle. My hands are also swollen...but not enough to notice by looking at them......but I can feel it, and have been having a lot more trouble than usual in using them. typing particular has been a big problelm...I type lie a drunk and then thave to go back and correct a million mistakes....so my question is this, what type of sewlling fo you have in your feet? just a small amt. of joint swelling that is directly over and in the joints or this general huge elephant foot syndrome that I have.?? Last year he gave me Lasix to take as needed,,,well I hav been taking it all week and it goes down slightly...I do run to the BR all day...but the swelling doenslt seem to go dowm much. And I am even waking up in the am with them already swollen. I don't have appt with Rheumy until late this month..and my GP will just say " old age " (he is usually very good..except for this) so I'm wondering if your feet are looking the same...or do I have yet another problem??? thanks for and info you can share ! jenna > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
hey Jenna I am sure that my feet swelling is realted to the heat and the humidity because when I stay at home all day and put on the AC, they hardly swell. As for the 'old age' thing, my mother who is 69 sometimes has swollen feet and the doc attributes it to age. I don't think you qualify amira
Guest guest
Hi Yes, we do use the metric system for measuring blood pressure and I know mine is really very low. I always had low blood pressure, but it never got that low before. The doctor does not want to give me anything yet, he said that the Corticosteroids would up the levels, but they didn't. So he suggested to put more salt in my food. But then my feet would bulge! So I have started to take a drug called Effortil on my own, which helps me a little. It is sometimes very confusing to try to figure out if I am so terribly tired because of my blood pressure or because of the autoimmune diseases. take care amira linda yeakel <lindayeakel@...> wrote: Hi Amira, I have heard that the weather in Egypt does get very hot and very humid. Guest guest
Hi Amira, Thank you for responding so quickly. I'm glad to hear that your doc is monitoring your blood pressure. My blood pressure and sugar level elevated and I also began to retain water when I started taking Prednisone, (Corticosteroids) So now I take blood pressure meds, water pills and one little sugar pill which works wonderfully to control my sugar level. I also take potassium pills to replace the potassium that is lost because of the water pills. I take four additional meds all because I take Prednisone. I really don't mind having to take the extra meds because the Prednisone really does help me most of the time. However, during bad flares I don't think anything helps. Guest guest
Hey : Don't you just love it when you take one med that works, but then have to take other meds to counteract the side effects of that med, and end up taking two to three other meds for that one good med, and on and on for other meds too. That is how I have ended up with many of my meds, I am sure! P.S. It was great getting together with you on Saturday, and hope to do it again as soon as it is feasible to do so.
