Guest guest
Well, I heard from my nephrologists office today. His nurse called to see how I was doing. He was on vacation last week when the results of my lab work came in. One of the partners wanted to see how I was doing and then decide if I should go on antibiotics. Well, we decided to wait it out over the weekend. Well..... She called today to see how I was. I told her my symptoms were still there, sometimes worse than other times. I get the chills, hot then cold, a lot of right flank pain (from the kidney), abdominal pain, nausea is always there (worse sometimes during the day than other times), and the occasional vomiting, as well as an on/off fever (between 99.0 ti 101). Well, she said she would report the info to my doc and call me back. She called back pretty fast. He wanted me to go on Amoxicillin. I told her I am allergic to Penacillians. Then she said that he ok'd Cipro if I was allergic to penacillins. Well, cipro is also a problem. Not sure why we tell them what we are allergic to when nobody reads it!! Anyway, I told her that those drugs give me severe headachs, nausea, itching and hives. All the antibiotic drugs on my allergy list do this. Some worse than others. Well, I told her that I have a ten day supply of Augmentin here. I didn't take it when it was first ordered for me months ago because I was allergic to it. That's why I was getting high doses of Benadryl and Phenergan around each dose of antibiotics (all of which I got intravenous). The oral stuff just didn't work. I also found out that the bacteria has changed. It used to be Klebsiella. Now it is Proteus. Which is odd. That Proteus bacteria is a water born pathogen. I haven't been taking tub baths, no hot tub, no swimming, nothing. None of the usual ways of exposure. So, it's a real stumper!! I didn't want to take the antibiotics ordered because at this point in the game, the side effects of the drugs will be way worse than the effects I'm having with the bacteria. So, she said ok, but if I got worse to call and he will have sent to the hospital. She said she will call me on Thursday to see how I am doing. If I am still the same, then I will probably get admitted. I really really don't want that. So, I am asking all of my friends here for some good karma and lots of prayers. I have to get over this without drugs. I don't want to go into the hospital. I'm so tired of this pylonephritis. 4 months is more than enough!! Thank you, everyone, for listening. Thank you for being there. Words can't express how much all of you mean to me. We may not have ever met, but we found each other in this group. Take care, everyone.....Hugs and prayers, Marina

Guest guest
Yup, they know the stones are in there, problem is that they are imbedded into the kidneys. So, they aren't going anywhere. They are to concerned about the infection and blasting them with the lithotripsy. So, they try to sterilize the stones with antibiotics. Over and over again!!.....Marina > > Marina, that's terrible.
