I think that is wonderful and I bet you will be very successful having support right with you all the time. I personally do have pork probably once a week. Guest guest
Hi Sal & ! Your questions I think have already been answered so I'll just say welcome My girls will be 7 & 4 next month (and I have 16 month old son) and I also want to set a good example for them. But beware...both of my girls are " free day police " and always question if it's my free day before I put anything in my mouth. Guest guest
, I live in San Diego and buy my raw milk from Organic Pastures. Before I had them ship directly to me I purchased my milk from Jimbo's Markets. Now, it is cheaper to have OPastures deliver a two weeks supply than to buy it directly from the grocery store. Raw Milk is expensive out here. Raw milk is not illegal here in California. Kathann Fuhrman from Malibu, California I am a wanna be Raw dairy customer. I had been corresponding with Organic Pastures Dairy in Fresno, CA in particular to order their Raw Buttermilk. Unfortunately they cannot sell to markets down here where I could buy their product. I would like to see that rectified. Shipping charges direct to me are prohibitive. I believe the process of pasturizing must kill many benificial ingredients in dairy products. I would like to add any thoughts to the group that may be helpful in changing the laws prohibiting the sale of raw dairy products in Calif. and would like to obtain sources of where I can purchase these products. Thanks, Mike Fuhrman Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Guest guest
Hi Mike, Raw dairy is legal in California! I live in Glendale and wonder why you can't get OP in Malibu? Maybe find a health food store closer to you who would ship? or where you could pick it up? No Whole foods in Malibu? I have both Op and Claravale Farms in Whole Foods and my local HFS. Guest guest
Welcome from a California transplant to Idaho. I thought you could buy raw milk in Calif. Always bought it in L.A. when I lived there. Have you checked with Whole Foods, Trader Joes and some of the larger health food stores? Or is it that he can't ship the raw buttermilk? If that's the problem, get some raw milk, go to www.cheesemaking.com and get their buttermilk culture (I love it) and make your own. Works great, tastes great....just like in the old days. K.C. Guest guest
Absolutely!! There are a few books you should read and if it’s possible for you to get a DAN dr. for your daughter that would be great!! Diet is usually the 1st place to start and the most difficult to initiate but the benefits can be immense. GF/CF or SCD diets are where a lot of people start. Then there’s LOD, Caveman, etc., etc. Get the book “Changing the Course of Autism” by Jepson, MD and start looking through these websites; Generation rescue http://www.generationrescue.org/ TACA http://www.tacanow.org/index.htm Autism Research institute http://www.autism.com/ This is only a star, you will feel overwhelmed with information, so take it slow and believe me, eventually it will all sink in. This and many other yahoo lists are a great source of parental information as well. …..Good luck, From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of maggiemacg Sent: Monday, September 10, 2007 2:45 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: New Member Hi I just joined the list; I have a wonderful 10yo daughter with severe autism; she's non-verbal. I'm trying to find things that will help her - recovery would be wonderful, but any improvement in her ability to learn and function would be most appreciated. Is there anything I can do easily at home to see if this might be worth pursuing? Many thanks Maggie San Ramon CA
Guest guest
Maggie -- Another wonderful book that I find very, very parent-friendly and user-friendly is Dr. Bock's book, HEALING THE NEW CHILDHOOK EPIDEMICS: AUTISM, ADHD, ASTHMA, AND ALLERGIES. It presents the information in a very usable way and is chock- full of encouraging anecdotes from his practice. And as wrote, while you will surely feel a bit overwhelmed, it's OK, it's OK -- there are sites such as this one where generous-spirited parents will help you every step of the way. If you can get a DAN! doctor, that would be great, since you'd have a knowledgeable partner on this journey. And in the interim, you can learn about diets -- Gluten-Free/Casein-Free/Soy-Free is probably a good place start (and even with that, you'd probably want to phase it in slowly -- first cutting out casein, then the glutens one by one, then soy, so even there you don't have to know everything all at once!)...even if you then move on to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet or another one, based on what you start learning about your child's specific metabolic challenges. Biomedical treatments can bring improved health and functioning to our children, regardless of their age or degree of involvement -- they help to some degree in the majority of cases. How great that you're exploring this avenue for your daughter! Very best of luck! Warmly, Rhona > > Absolutely!! Does anybody have any advice on how to administer these pills into a kid who's strong willed and fiesty, a picky eater, she only drinks water and she's not quite at level where we can bribe her. We previously tried forcing liquid vitamins on her and half of it seems to get spit out. - maybe this will be the only option- thanksKen and

What worked for us was this: 1) Take a week off from attempting to give pills. Everyone could use a break from the pressure. 2) Don't hide the medicine. Explain what it is, don't expect her to take it and then back off from the topic. 3) Give her a bottle with a spout on top. (We used a poland springs water bottle with the white spout that you have to pull up on to drink it.) Let her practice drinking out of the new bottle. When you put the spout in your mouth it creates a tunnel for the pill to go down in the mouth vs. the pill rolling around in the mouth and stimulating a gag reflux. 4) Then start with a smaller capsule (like a probiotice) with the water bottle. Then when she has master this, add the valtrex. 5) Remain calm! Kids get stressed when they sense their parents stress. This whole process may seem like a long drawn out process but it is worth it. Our son wouldn't take anything no matter what we did. He, too, only drinks water. But when I stopped hiding things and was honest and remained calm, and gave him the water bottle he starting swallowing things. I hope this is helpful. Guest guest
Our main job here is to support those with the disease . And once you start treatment your definately going to need some support and that is where we come in . We are here for you honey , you need not contribute anything so to speak . And soon when a new person comes in your going to be able to answer thier questions and your experiences will add to the rest of ours . We form a strong group together and that is the purpose of this group . new member I have only been a member a few days and i have been reading about the various stages people are in and i really don't know if i belong here. my type 2 hep with no symptoms (other then a slightly elevated alt and ast) seems like a minor inconvenience compared to the liver transplants and treatments that didn't work. I'm not sure i have anything to offer.i start the injections and ribaviran within the week so maybe I'll be able to give an insight into the treatment but i want all of you to know that my heart goes out to you. Guest guest
Hi, My name is Patsy Candebat and I have had Hep C since 1980 which I receive through a blood transfusion due to a motor vehicle accident. I was diagnosed in 1991. In 1998 I enrolled in a drug study at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. I did the Interferon 3x a week with Ribavirin pills. I had to stop after only a few months due to Anemia. I was a non-responder. I had a Liver Biopsy previous to the study and I had mild fibrosis. Well it is now 2008 and since then I have 2 more biopsies. In Nov. 07 I began the Pegalated interferon, once weekly along with the Ribavirin. I failed again, the blood test for the virus, the Quant showed no change. The side effects were extreme. My WBC was low to begin with and once I started the treatment it became extreamely dangerous. I took Procrit along with Neupogen for my RBC but failed again. Well now I am in Stage 3 or early Cirrosis with recently diagnosed Portal hypertension. Iam being treated at Ochsner Clinic with blood test every few months and Ultrasound. Now I just sit and wait for whatever will happens next. Iam 61 with 6 children and 19 Grandchildren. I have a very busy active life and do not plan on going anywhere soon. Iam not a complainer and look to the good Lord for strength. Thanksgiving dinner will be by my house and I look forward to a great Christmas. Wishing you well and hope to hear from you.
Guest guest
Welcome Patsy, Have you looked into treatment by Dr Bert Berkson?? You will find a lot of info on him on the internet. It is treatment that is done with alpha lipoic acid given IV. Minimal side effects. He is well respected and documented. You might look into that. You sound active and happy. I wish you the best and, again, welcome !!!
