Guest guest
Hi Rochelle, Nice to hear from you. Did you finish treatment or stop? That's great news that all of your tests were good and that you got a second opinion. I'm a bit curious though, why would they have put you on treatment if you are just a carrier? Just goes to show you how no two docs are alike......... At any rate, thanks so much for posting - and I'm glad that you are doing well. Have a great Thanksgiving! Chris I just wanted to tell you that I am going to digest for now because I'm not being treated at this time. I had my biopsy and it came back with no liver scarring or problems. All of my labs are okay and my levels are at 12000 that is from my beginning of 64000. but I will keep checking in and keeping up with everyone. I've had my 2nd opinion and this 2nd dr says I do not need treatment at this time and will just do labs every 6 months and a liver biopsy every4 years. He told me I am basically like a carrier of the disease. I really do appreciate all the help you have given me and helped me with.regardsRochelleyOne site has it all. Guest guest
Hey Roch Good for you. Im so happy for you. It might mean I also may not have to treat either. That would be so great. I was only a 8600. Hopefully that is low enough too. Stay well. love don in kansas Subject: hey everyoneTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Saturday, November 22, 2008, 2:44 PM I just wanted to tell you that I am going to digest for now because I'm not being treated at this time. Guest guest
Unfortunately, viral means nothing, except how it reacts to treatment. After all, I've been undetectable several times. m > > > > > > > > Hey Roch > Good for you. Im so happy for you. It might mean I also may not have to > treat either. > That would be so great. Guest guest
I certainly won't second-guess your choice not to treat, but keep in mind that, while the doc said that you were " like " a carrier, you still have active virus working against you. It can take 20 years or more to do much damage, but once it starts, it can progress exponentially. Viral load means little except as it reacts to treatment; I've been undetectable with each treatment. m > > > > > > > I just wanted to tell you that I am going to digest for now because I'm not > being treated at this time. Guest guest
, How long have you been on the infergen treatment? Is this your first try with infergen? I've been possitive since 1994 and I've been throug the alfa interferon, alfa 2b interferon with ribo, Pegasis and copeg, and now we are doing the infergen. I have had better luck with the infergen but it robs your strength worse than the others. You are the only other person I've talked to who is going through these treatments. What has your dr said about your treatment in general? Let's try to keep up with this stuff. The others in the group may have to go through this and we could offer a lot of help. Thanks Steve Bridgers
Guest guest
I started last March, and will be doing this for 72 weeks. When it gets hard, I try to remember that this is my choice, and there is a reason I chose this. I also do ribavirin, but have had to drop the dose due to blood problems, though I’m on Procrit as well. My doc is very hopeful. I’ve always been a quick responder, and have been undetectable since week 3 (the lab did the test early). Doc says there is no sense in going less than 72 weeks; I’ve been through 48 weeks and 52 weeks with weekly interferon. I don’t react as often or as bad to the injections and don’t have the fever I used to have but I know what you mean about robbing strength. There are days when I would go to the frig and pull the handle and nothing happens. Even typing this wears me out. m From: Hepatitis_C_Central [mailto:Hepatitis_C_Central ] On Behalf Of stevebridgers Sent: Monday, November 24, 2008 10:37 AM To: Hepatitis_C_Central Subject: Re: hey everyone , How long have you been on the infergen treatment?
