I just found out my aunt who has advanced RA has to have a hysterectomy. They

told her it was because years of taking prednazone (sp); that it thinned the

tissues of her body. I have only taken it once when I had a bad flare up in the

groin and couldn't walk. I already didn't like this drug because of what it does

to your weight but now I am even more sure I don't want to take it if I don't

have to. Has anyone else heard of this?? Please forgive my spelling, I am too

lazy to run it through spell check tonight.

Dawn, sorry to hear about your aunt's RA and need for a hysterectomy.

Chronic prednisone use is associated with, for example, dermal thinning and

atrophy and muscle pain and atrophy, but I haven't heard of a specific case

of prednisone use leading to a hysterectomy before.

Does she have uterine prolapse? How long has she been taking prednisone and

how much?

Not an MD

I'll tell you where to go!
