Guest guest
My 12yod is experiencing a bad flare right now and it seems to have started in her rib cage. It really hurts her when she takes a deep breath. Right now her rib cage, back, neck, feet, knees and hands are really hurting her and she is fatigued. This seems like a regular RA flare to me and with the oppressively humid weather and rain we've been having all weekend, I can understand where it came from. We see the rheumatologist tomorrow morning, but I was wondering if any of you get bad rib cage/chest pain with your RA and what kinds of things you do to manage that pain. Thanks. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your daughter's pain. I don't have juvenile RA.....but I too get chest and rib pain during a flare. My flares are around my cycle. The first time I had chest pain during my flare I thought I was having a heart attack. I went to the hospital and found that I did have some swelling but I was basically okay. Now, I know to expect monthly chest pain. Biofreeze a topical pain relieving gel helps. I don't have a lot but I save it for when I'm really desperate. My doctor also gave me naproxsom (sp?). And after 2 or 3 days on 2000 mgs. I can feel the difference. I hope you can find the right blend of anti-inflammatory, RA meds, pain meds, and topical creams for your daughter. I can only imagine how hard it is to watch her be in so much pain. Guest guest
I have been having moderate chest pain probably 3-4 times a week. Is this normal? (for RA) I havent told doc yet, dealing with my boyfriend's hernia is enough. His surgery is Thursday.Thank goodness! Wish there was a surgery we could get to help.....grrrr well I am up early, tired of tossing and turning all night. My hips are getting worse. I don't even complain anymore cuz I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. I have become so used to being in pain that I think I don't notice when something new hurts. Like the heart thing, it just hit me when reading this...did the doc give u the biofreeze? thx and I'm Jenn btw.. [ ] Re: Rib cage pain during flare Sorry to hear about your daughter's pain.
