Guest guest
Hi Lynda, It is actually very possible to not have swelling. I do get swelling in my wrists and hands but when my feet are killing there is no swelling. Everybody is different. Corinne lyndazwinger wrote: > > How common is it to have no visible swelling? Guest guest
I'm so glad someone else asked the question! I had the same question because I have no visible swelling either, but have the joint pain, and I, too, have no " official " diagnosis at this point. We're in the same boat at the moment Lynda! Guest guest
Early in my search for a diagnosis I kept hearing, " but you don't have any visible swelling. " One day I went to bed and was unable to move, like my RA switch just turned on. Anyway about about a year of the doctors not being able to feel any swelling, see it themselves or through xrays it came! Sadly it never left. If you have RA it will come eventually. Most of my joints aren't obvious, they just look chubby. The damage speaks for itself though. Shandi Re: [ ] no visible swellling I'm so glad someone else asked the question! Guest guest
Hi, I have almost no visible swelling, but I definitely have RA. I have one erosion in a toe that never showed any signs of trouble--never red, never swollen. Guest guest
Sometimes people are " overeducated " or " over-promoted " . One day I was with a group of Engineering VP's trying to figure out why motor pinions wouldn't fit by the time my men got them in the field. Here we were, snow and ice all over the castings, and they were scratching their heads, looking at books for the explanation. I finally got them to pay attention to me, and explained to them that when something is cold, it shrinks, and as it heats up, it gets larger. They finally understood! If machining starts when it's frozen, measurements will be off by the time it gets to room temperature. All I had to do was establish a procedure to move the parts inside a heated room 24 hours before any work was done, and the problem was solved. I assume it's the same with Health Care Professionals. They can't see the forest for the trees. So, no swelling, no problem. They sure get paid a lot for what they do (or don't). Guest guest
Dennis, I couldn't agree with you more! Well said!! I have noticed that in a large number of health care professionals- primarily physicians since they do the diagnositic labeling.. I have had several episodes in the past, as have my family and friends where they are looking for specific symptoms, and when not present, then it simply MUST not be.. the can't see the forest for the trees is so right. UGH! Kristi --------------------------------- Messenger with Voice. PC-to-Phone calls for ridiculously low rates.
