Guest guest
, I am I hope, easing off a flare, and I think what has helped me is clearing my system somewhat by taking a lot of fruit juices, mainly grape, apple, cherry berry tea, green tea (home made, not the diet bottled tea which has aspartame etc in it ) raw fruit, nuts. Orange juice is a real NO_NO as is tomatoes, white potatoes, any kind of pepper like bell, cayenne, mainly the fluids, 3 quarts daily. It won't cure but it helps me. eating healthy foods, no junk, etc.keeping the body in otherwise good health can help us to be able to fight this painful malady. I started to try to get up and go to bed, but saw your post and hoped to help a little. Wish could help more. leo/lee P.S. one important thing to do is try to carry on your life as much as you can that you normally used to. Try to get back to dating, anything that makes you happy. laughter is one of the best medicines. I can help to keep you from crying. I also pray a lot<G> Sounds like you are going in the right direction as much as possible. Others here will also try to help. Love and hugs to warm your bones. leo From: C Simms Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 9:45 AM Subject: [ ] Tips for Managing Flares Hi! I know this information is embedded in the archives and has been shared repeatedly when people share their stories....so forgive me for asking again. But, I've been trying to keep a flare at bay for several weeks. I've done a predinisone bumb...tried resting but I work full time (in the social services profession - too much work, not enough money, deeply demanding) and I'm a single mom. I'm trying to avoid more medicines. So, I'm wondering if there are things that 'you do' when you feel a flare coming on that have been helpful? I'm all for vitamins and supplements. But, if it's more sleep that's been helpful, diet tips, etc. creams, potions. -anything!!!! I've felt good, really good since March/April. I almost forgot (except for the medicines I take everyday) that I had RA. I've even lost 30 lbs this summer. I was able to predinisone, changing my diet and exercise on most days. I was almost ready to start to consider to date again. [i haven't dated since I got sick -almost 3 years now] I don't want to go back. Every day I feel like I'm losing more mobility in my hands, my fatigue/depression are increasing, and I'm less and less able to move about and I was just finally getting my life back. So, your tips are desperately needed!!!!!! Thanks , IL
