Does Epsom Salts dry out the skin really bad? I already have over dried skin

and need to use lots of moisturizer; but as soon as I do, my skin is dried out.

Is there anything else anyone has used for there hands and wrists for the pain?

Thanks,

Kathy

Oh yes! it does help!

Epson Salts in Magnesium (1 tsp is about 400MG Magnesium)and I bathe

in it when I can get in and out of the tub, and also take 400MG

daily as a dietary supplement. It helps regulate my system. check

with your proffesional though.

Haven't tried for bath, but use the 3% with water 50/50 for cleaning

mouth and teeth. Also for dentures. It will keep oe from having any

kind of inflamation i the mouth. Do not use too strog, though, as

it can kill flesh as well as germs and is not good to breath te

fumes.

Thanks for brig this sub to mind as I haven't had a good ES bath in

a month or so!Haven't been able to get up ad out of tub. Hae to

shower.

Kathy, I find paraffin hand spas very helpful esp. on cold morning when I first

wake up. They really help limber up the stiff fingers. They can be purchased

at about any drug store or Walmart, KMart type store. They are relatively

inexpensive. The one I have is made by Hometics. Using lotion or baby oil on

the hands before dipping and its really good for dry skin-just be careful and

don't get the parafin too hot and burn yourself.

It can if emmersed too long, and it also depends on the individual.

I am old and my skin is qite thin, but a lot of our problems are

caused by what we eat or don't eat <G>

So many of us are on a no fat diet. It is good to eliminate some

fats but we do need helpful ones. I try to stay off the harmfulls

ones, usually animal and dairy fats, but also try to consume at

least a tablespoon of organic, virgin first cold pressed oliveoil

daily.

It lubricates my whole GI tract for healthier elimination and also

helps my skin. I also apply some occasionally directly to the skin.

Not globs, but lightly.

I used to use the hot wax when my hands were totally on fire, but

when they got better, I had too much to do to sit that long. It

contains various herbs and oils that are beneficial to the

lubrication of the skin. You might go to one of your local free

clinics and see if some one has donated one and borrow it. that's

where I got mine and then when better, returned it.

Another practice that helped me tremendously was evenings when could

sit and watch TV and hands/wrists bad, bad, I rubbed or soaked my

hands and wrists in ginger root tincture. It really helped a lot.Had

a wide mouthed glass contaer just the right size to hold my hand in

and allow the ticture to cover it up past my wrist. I also take some

ginger and cinnamon daily. Unless you have an allergy, both are good

for digestion. When we have good digestion and eat well balaned

meals, it doe helo. It may not (Probably not<g>)cure the RA but it

helps us to be more able to combat it.

hope this is of some help.

Thank you for the input, everyone! Never occurred to me that hot wax would

help! Will give all a try.

Thanks again,

Kathy

Thanks , but unfortunately I'm unable to get in and out of a tub. So all I

can do is take showers. Thanks for the help anyway!
