An unsafe item to put on a baby's head (the strap can cause baby tochoke- I know some of you have used them, but it can pose a choking hazard as I'm sure you've had to watch out for that- as I did with the tot collar)B. covering his ears- how is a baby supposed to hear with its ears covered by the helmet? It's hard, people just don't understand. I try not to use the word " arthritis " , instead I say RA, an auto immune disorder. As far as family, I think it's important to tell them about your feelings. And I don't let my family give me " platitudes, " like " Oh, it'll be alright. " Our lives (those of us with RA) have changed dramatically and our family has to come to terms with that, too. Things are simply not ever going to be the same. That's scary and depressing and, personally, I don't want a " fix " I want someone to understand and listen to what I'm feeling. I actually talk about it a lot to my 14 and 15 yr old kids, one of whom " gets it " and the other not. But maybe eventually it'll sink in Good luck...
