Hi Toni:

Sorry you have to go off your Humira because of your

cold. I do the same thing too, when I am sick, I go

off my Enbrel, and, boy, can I feel the difference - I

look so forward to being healthy again so I can shoot

up lol.

That is so awful about that lady with RA that you met.

I don't understand how she would not be able to find

some kind of medical transportation so that she would

be able to get to a rheumy. Her being able to only be

on pain meds and Celebrex, and no DMARD, is not

controlling the disease, which is showing up in her

surgery history. How sad.

Hang in there -

Kathe,

Yes it is very sad. But if life we make choices. This lady has

chosen not to get the care she needs. She has already had two knee

replacements and is not doing well those. She also told me about

worstening anemia...all this stuff deals with her untreated RA.

This also paints a picture were we are going healthcare wise for

those that can not afford commerical insurance. This lady did not

work enough to qualify for SSDI so all she gets is SSI. SSI here in

texas has medicaid only. The medicaid system here once you leave one

of the major medical center is almost NONE EXISISTANT!!!

You are in far better shape if you have commerical insurance and

medicaid..but this poor lady does not. So for now all she has is a

family practice doc. Who has already told her he can not prescribe

DMARDS because he is not qualified to monitor or treat her RA. Plus

the medicaid here in Texas will not even pay for the meds unless they

are approved by medicaid and the treating doc has to be a specialist

that says she must have them.

So she is in a really bad place.
