Guest guest
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone nows whether the ESR rates are affected by Fibro?? I have just got my last blood tests results back and they are the lowest they have very been with the ESR at 24, so the methotrextae at 20mg is doing the trick. Problem is that these results don't equal how I am feeling, with pain etc which is probably more fibro than Ra at the minute. Also can you take too much folic acid??? in oz
Guest guest
, Fibromyalgia is thought to be a noninflammatory condition. It shouldn't markedly affect the ESR. In contrast, RA disease activity most often does affect the sed rate. You should ask your physician how much folic acid is appropriate. Typical amounts are between 1 mg and 5 mg per day. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Hi : Yep, it's probably the fibro. Fibro does not have any inflammatory causes, it is thought to be a central nervous system problem with nerves, muscles, etc., and not inflammation in the body. There is no warmth or swelling in the joints, but there is pain and stiffness with both RA and Fibro, and fatigue. I'm feeling more fibro pain now as well, but that can change hour by hour some days. I think the maximum dose of Folic Acid I have ever taken has been 2 mg., don't know what the highest dose you can take is. Check with your doctor. I'm glad to hear that the Mtx is helping your RA! Guest guest
Hi Kathe, thanks for your reply, it is the fibro as the swelling etc in my hands are the best they have been yet they are waking me up at night in pain. Just my luck some relief from RA and the Fibro gets hold. the mtx at 20mg is doing the RA good, but the fatigue and now hair loss is not. Take care Re: [ ] E.S.R Hi : Yep, it's probably the fibro.
