Guest guest
I didn't know that you could get pox again. I thought once you were done with it, that's it. Can you give me more info on this, please? Huggles, Yanosz Re: [ ] med side effects? Have you had chicken pox or measles before? When I was 16, the same thing happened to me, turned out to be chicken pox. And, you can get it again, even if you have already had it. What you're describing sounds like it could be chicken pox. The voice thing, no idea. Rainy
Guest guest
Hi Pat, I actually had my shingles quite young and it surprised the doctor. It was at the beginning of all my problems, but before I was officially diagnosed with the RA. I did get the antivirals and they truly do help. My shingles were on my back and shoulder area so I was lucky. The face is the worst place to get them I hear. Because of the antivirals my pain only lasted a week and I did not get as many lesions. So yes everyone, if you even have an inkling that you have shingles, get to the doctor fast! The antivirals work well but only if you get there quickly. Take care. Guest guest
I've had them twice. When I was 5 I had a really good case (they were everywhere), got over them like any other kid, no prob. When I was 17, I got them again...wow, did that suck. Went to the doc because mom didn't know you could get them twice and couldn't figure out what in the world I had (I TOLD her it was chicken pox, but she didn't believe it). Doc said that 1 in 10 people get them again because basically your immune system " forgets " you had them before. I wound up getting a secondary infection with them, breaking out for a month (they were even in my hair...bleh!) and they would have put me in the hospital, but we couldn't afford it, so they let mom keep me home as long as I had a full 8 ounces of liquid every hour. (This may not seem like much, but it was all Gatorade and Ginger Ale....two things I can't stand.) I was weak for months afterward, and not allowed in the sun without sunscreen for a year. My daughter, who turned 6 yesterday, got the vaccine when she was around 2 or 3 or whatever, so we figured we were home free....until she wound up getting chicken pox anyway a year or so later. Seems she takes after me. Shanna Yanosz Descouedresz wrote: > I didn't know that you could get pox again. I thought once you were > done with it, that's it. Guest guest
I had chicken pox when I was 25-I was SO SICK-we were on our honeymoon on Folly Beach, SC (a friend let us use their brand new beach house for a week for a wedding gift) anyway, I woke up the second morning there sick as a dog! My fever was 106, so my husband took me to the firedepartment wich was nearby-they suggested I go the ER. There wasn't much they could do either, except ice baths and Tylenol...I was too sick to go home, so we stayed there the whole week with me sick, sick, sick, I lost 15lbs. that week-I couldn't hold food down at all-I now think that's were the RA was developing in my system-I have not felt the same since that time and them to find out I have severe RA last year...they always say that adult chicken pox is dangerous and BOY! do I believe that! Guest guest
I too got chickenpox for the first time as an adult. My daughter gave them to me at the ripe old age of 27 and I was also 5 months pregnant with my son. We were lucky they said as chickenpox during pregnancy can cause birth defects, but he was already developed fully and it could cause pre-term labor but I was not close enough to delivery for that so I guess God was really watching out for me, however, I was sooooo very ill. I was in bed a week and when I first came down with it I had severe vomiting and diarrhea with a high fever and of course those lovely pox. When they found out my daughter had chickenpox and I had never had them they did give me a shot of immunoglobulin, but I got them anyway. I was so itchy I ended up in the ER and they finally let me have Benadryl. I often wonder if that is why my son is so laid back today, all that Benadryl. He has a wonderful calm personality, lol. This of course was way before the chickenpox vaccine. They still made him have the vaccine when it came out as nobody was sure if you get them inutero or not so they wanted to be sure and vaccinated him anyway. Then of course about a year before they figured out I had RA and all hell started to break loose with my body probably around 35 or 36, I got shingles but was lucky enough to recognize them right away and get the antivirals. Yes, having them as an adult totally rots. I ran high fevers of 104-105 for a week and the itching, oh my! Plus being so pregnant, not a time I would like to repeat right now. Did I mention I came down with them on Christmas Eve also? That was a lovely Christmas, I barely remember it. Luckily our daughter was only 2 and so she did not really realize how sick I was. I could fake it pretty good, but my pictures from that day are horrible! Well, just wanted to share my chickenpox horror story in detail. Anybody else get them while they were pregnant? Guest guest
My daughter had shingles two years ago at age 10. Her Dr. said at that time that a person would have to have had chicken pox before they could have shingles. The Dr. also stated that shingles can be brought on by stress, poor diet, and low immunity... > > > Hi, > > > > > > Are you also aware of the relationship between shingles and > > chickenpox? Guest guest
Hi -- When DS and DD had the chicken pox I just did lukewarm oatmeal baths and calamine lotion on the areas that looked really bad. My kids were uncomfortable, and poor DD had them EVERYWHERE, but I don't remember them being terribly uncomfortable. I do remember them sleeping a lot, and trying to keep them busy while awake. Guest guest
Rhus tox is a common one, but there are others. Depends on the individual's specific symptoms. Believe it or not, not everyone has the exact same symptoms, which is something most people don't realize Thanks, though, Winnie Sheri At 11:11 PM 1/24/2008 +0000, you wrote: >Homeopathic rhus tox.
