Guest guest
Ok, i guess im the one that must shutup. but just for the records: i think anything in this life make a better substitute than people when it comes to close relationships, atleast when u smoke cigarettes u know whats waiting for u but dealing with people bring only suffering and pain and mostly when ur not excpecting it. She is entitled to her opinion. Enough already. We need to be her friends. and friends know when to STOP!! enough has been said already. Please let us never mention this again. It would be a shame if Marwa never came back to a place where she can find answers and friends because of this one issue. jenna
Guest guest
Oh sweetie... I am sorry that someone has hurt you so badly that you feel that way. I hope that you are able to heal enough to experience the joy in life again. Life has enough difficult moments without carrying that burden of cynicism and holding up that wall of isolation. Guest guest
You know, I have heard someone else say the same thing. This was in 1997 when I was still able to be outgoing and socialize at the work place. A lady there smoked and I asked her what does smoking do for her. She said it was like a best friend. I really don't think she was interested in befriending anyone else. There were plenty of us there and she was friendly enough but still took frequent cigarette breaks. I guess if it means a best friend to you, it would be tough giving up a best friend. I am not in support of cigarettes but believe in live and let live attitude as long as no one else gets hurt and that means I don't believe in exposing others to secondhand smoke against their will. Yet if you want to take a stroll on break with a cigarette, it's your choice. My mom smoked for years. She stopped around 10 years ago and passed away recently anyway at the age of 59 years. That's young to me. So, I don't like to make judgements about who should stop or not. I certainly don't want to be addicted to anything -- legal or not legal. Okay. Have a blessed day today. peace, Ebony --------------------------------- How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
Hi Marwa, you are free to have and express your opinion whether others agree with it or not. I feel sad that life has not been kinder to you and don't ever feel you have to shut up. We are here to listen and help if we can. Smoking doesn't make you a bad person. Guest guest
I changed the group from RA-support to Nonsmoking-support (lol). Thanks guys for ur concern i really appreciate it. Im sorry if i made all think that im uncomfortable or mad, im not, u all are right and ur point of view is right. Sue, im sorry if my reply sounded harsh or impolite i really didnt mean it. Plz accept my apology. Jenna, Kathe, June, thanks a lot. Colette, thanks and im already having all the fun, cuz i think its u and only u who can make ur life more fun. Ebony, u r right addiction is the worst thing in life, but if i had to think like that, then i consider my life as big addicttion display, im addicted to work, cigarettes, car racing, food.... Well actually its not addiction as if u could say that when i start something i cant stop my self, like i could go days without smoking or eating but once i start the only thing that stops me is that there is nothing left. Its very frustrating that i cant keep food in the house and i have to buy every meal, it also scared me to death that i cant stop my self but life goes on. Thanks for the lovely story of Betty and Ann, i didnt really know what to make with it. By the way " Money does fix everything honey " . Does any one of u had problems with driving, lately i feel like i cant concentrate and my knees hurts also my hands are shaking all the time and i had to change my glasses 3 times only in this month. Thanks guys for everything. Marwa
Guest guest
Marwa, There's no need to apologize. I didn't think that your reply sounded harsh or impolite. I hope that you did not think that anyone was ridiculing you, as someone suggested. I think that most of the ones who joined in this discussion are ex-smokers, and they become the biggest crusaders against smoking. We've been there, done that, and have the T-shirt. And we of course know what a hard thing it is to stop. I think that it is really neat that we can communicate with someone all the way in Egypt. We live in an amazing world. Marwa, your sense of humor comes out in your posts. You sound like a jolly person, and it is a pleasure to know you. Guest guest
That's a good new name for the group, " NonSmoking-Support " ! LOL As for the story about Betty and Ann, it's 100% true and happened this last Sunday morning. Had Ann been willing to go to the hospital when she was told to, she would be alive today. That may not have been an answer for her in the long run, but we can only look back and say that she's better off now that she doesn't need the oxygen bottles any more. One of my aunts was carrying an oxygen bottle around with her and still smoking like there would be no tomorrow. Sometimes it's too hard to quit. If " Money does fix everything " , I need proof. I've not seen it to be a possibility for me. Give me an example, please. Guest guest
Hey Sue, The pleasure is mine and no i didnt thought that any one is ridiculing me (What does that mean any way??) and this is actually the only reason for not thinking of that (lol). U wont imagine how this group emails made me happy (sometimes it scared me to death) but its happy to know that ur not invisible. P.S. im not in Egypt now im in Dubai. P.S.2 Do u think i need grammer lessons? Marwa > > > > I changed the group from RA-support to Nonsmoking-support (lol). > > Thanks guys for ur concern i really appreciate it. Guest guest
Marwa, To ridicule means to make fun of, to laugh at, to mock. People on this list do not ridicule other members; anyway, I have never know it to happen. I guess it must be another member who lives in Egypt. Or did I just make that up, LOL? I had to look up Dubai to see where it was. My geography skills are not very good. I see that it is in the United Arab Emirates. Am I correct in assuming it is a city? As a former English teacher, I think your English is very good for someone whose first language is something else. You express yourself very well in English. We don't mean to scare you to death. There is life after RA. I am on Enbrel, and I don't have much pain at all. I know that I'm lucky in that respect. Guest guest
Hey Sue, I was sure that u must be a teacher, u have the " teachers attitude " , u know how teachers always listen and they seems like agreeing but in the end i find myself doing what they want and feeling very happy and proud of my self!!!!!!! and english teachers were my Angels (thats a good nickname), actually english was my favorite subject (u watch ur favorite movies, listen to ur favorite songs, read some books and novels and now u r ready for an english test) U r not making anything up (lol), im Egyptian but im working in Dubai (which is a city in UAE) but most of the peoples know UAE as Dubai cuz its very famous. Im happy that u dont suffer much pain, i dont suffer that much too, its just the fatigue cuz i also work 16 hrs/day and i cant sleep more than 4 hrs (which is not related to RA, its just i feel guilty if i sleep more, lol). Before i was diagnosed with RA i was working in 1 full time job and 2 part time jobs just to get my essintial needs (food, cloths, education), when i started feeling sick i had to wait more than 4 months and cut some of those essintial things just to go to a doctor and buy the medicens. Now im working with good salary that at least i can sleep at night knowing that if sowething happened to me i have the money to go to the hospital and be treated like a human. Money is the most important thing when ur living in one of the 3rd world countries. Its who u r and how u will be treated. Its sad but its true.
