Guest guest
The last time I was at my rheumy's, the nurse told me that Enbrel now comes in pens. Does anybody know anything about this? Is anybody using the pens? Sue On Wednesday, October 18, 2006, at 08:17 PM, wrote: > Hi All, > I had a couple of questions when I was and still am giving myself > these shots. I can't compare it to the syringes because I've never used them. I do like the pens though. I hold the pen at a 90 degree angle to my thigh push down lightly and then " click " down on the end of the pen. After about 15 seconds, I hear a second click that tells me the injection is finished. I never see the needle--it's encased inside the pen. The injection does sting while it's going in, but it isn't unbearable and it's over quickly. Once I got the hang of it, the " SureClick " is super easy to use. It only comes in the once a week/50mg variety. Hope this helps-- dordale
Guest guest
Hi Group, Can someone tell me how much the Enbrel pens cost per month of treatment? Does Medicare or any insurance cover any or all of it? Sincerely, Bunny
Guest guest
I don't know how much the pens are, as I use the regular injection type. But for that type, the monthly retail cost is about $1,700 if I remember correctly. I can't imagine the pens are that much different price-wise. My insurance covers all but the $20 co-pay. I guess they figure that treating me now is cheaper than treating me once I'm a total cripple!<g> --- In , " monica pullern " <Eightbunny@...> wrote: > > Hi Group, > Can someone tell me how much the Enbrel pens cost per month of treatment? > > Does Medicare or any insurance cover any or all of it? > > Sincerely, Bunny >

If I remember correctly the invoice for 4 pens (one month supply) full cost was $1650 or so. Blue Shield's negotiated rate was about $1350--and I have to pay $100/month. I would pay the same amount if I used the syringes instead. dordale

Every Doctor has financial aid forms that are given to them by the drug companies in order to help out people who cannot afford certain costly meds. such as Enbrel, Humira, etc. If you tell your Dr. you cannot afford a certain med that he or she recommends for your treatment, ask if you can fill out a form regarding that drug. You fill out the form, return to Dr.for Dr. to fill out their portion, and it is mailed from their office. I could not afford the Humira and my Rheumatologist gave me this simple form that took under 5 minutes to fill out, I did so, and in two weeks I was given a steady supply of Humira that was delivered (free!) for a year!!! I never knew such a thing exsisted and felt grateful beyond words to have the opportunity to try something that could help. It helped for a while but unfortunately, my immune system became overly comprised and I had to D/C the drug. I will probably begin another new drug in the months to come and if it is very costly I will ask for the form again. I don't have to tell you how this disease not only destroys your joints but your savings as well. Hope this info. helps!! The best to you..........Blessings! Lori mvspringrun@... Guest guest
I also qualified for free Humira delivered to my door, but BEWARE, now they want to discontinue this benefit because I have Medicare Part D. Does anyone know if you can " drop " Part D? I was getting better benefits from the state of IL and now they want to discontinue the Humira. Part D seems to have made my financial situation worse with getting medications. Guest guest
I lost my Fosamax because of the Part D. I just don't take it any more, not like I have a choice.
