Guest guest
My 2 cents on nutrition bars (not that anyone asked It is very hard, if not impossible to find a bar with 50/50 carbs to protein (Did you hear that EAS?) I usually buy a variety. I try not to buy bars that exceed my grams per meal of carbs or protein. If it's a high protein bar, add a pice of fruit, whole whaet crackers, or a slice of bread. If it's high on the carb but low in protein eat it with a couple of egg whites, small piece of chicken, little protein drink, etc. You can take the bar and balance it with food. While we're on the subject, I do strive for balance but if I get carbs or protein a little too high at one meal, I can compensate at the next. Worst case scenario- as long as you have some protein and carbs at each meal, that's probably better than what you ate before! It's a life plan, not something that's supposed to have you calculating every gram, every day (and I did this for a couple of weeks). Don't get so wound up in details that you forget to customize it to your life. Knowledge is power, do the best you can and find what you can live with. If you miss a meal, or a workout, yes, that's not ideal but in the scope of your lifetime, it's not a tragedy. That said, I do not miss meals and have missed only a couple of w/o's. Persistance combined with flexibility is the key to this, IMHO. Pat
