Guest guest
Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless [ ] have yet another dx to add to my list Hi all, Went for my Remicade today. Took my partner with me to help me talk to my rheumy, who we both like alot. On top of the RA, OA, spinal stenosis, asthma, diabetes (thanks to prednisone), I now have an official dx of Fibromyalgia. I explained to him, I don't WANT another dx, but I need to know what is going on with me. Don't remember if I posted here or not, but I am having a knee replacement on 11/27. There is no cartliage left, and the bones above and below are necrotic (again, years of prednisone use). When the rheumy told me to 'get as much rest as possible'. I laughed. My partner had to have her ACL reconstructed, and has been in a brace and on crutches for almost 3 wks. We have 2 special needs kids, one who needs constant supervision. She has been unable to help much, but is improving and doing more every day. Which is good, b/c end of the month we switch roles, and I'll be post op and she'll be doing everything. Guest guest
T, My mom's name was . I am missing her a lot these days, probably b/c of the holidays fast approaching. Sorry about the new diagnosis. Don't you hate that? That is my biggest concern everytime I go to the doctor's office. The last time i was there the PA mentioned I may have overlapping conditions because they have been unable to get the RA under control. I have prednisone damage as well to my hips, worse on the left but both pretty shot. Hips are very needed in a woman for many reasons and for me losing use of my hips is just absolutely unacceptable in my mind. I didn't complain much when the shoulders went, the elbows went, the feet/toes went, the wrists went, the fingers went, the knees are always swollen, but I did complain when my hips went, mainly b/c I warned them while it was happening and they just stood there doing nothing. Kind of like they are right now with severe skin problems on both lower legs. Looks so bad I am afraid of ulcers forming. I am afraid of another diagnosis coming out of it as well. The dermatologist says it's dermatitis; however, it is getting worse and is painful. You guys should get help with the kids. God bless you for caring for special needs children, but I remember how difficult it was caring for my daughter with special needs, the lifting and changing diapers, PT appts, many doctor appts., etc. I always wondered if her quality of care was adequate with a mom in my condition (i never felt it was and voiced my concerns to family always), so with the both of you in such a condition, you should get family over or hire someone for a short time to help out. Sorry about the added diagnosis and good luck on the surgery this month. peace and healing, Ebony > > Hi all, > Went for my Remicade today. Guest guest
Hi, my mother's name was also , and I, too, am missing her this holiday season. My daughter is another , named after her beloved grandmother. And my granddaughters each carry one of their great-grandmother's names as their middle names. I know how you feel - it seems like my docs are continually adding dxs. Oh, you hurt there - must be Polymyalgia Rheumatica. Oh, the meds aren't doing it - must be Fibromyalgia. Oh, guess what - you have osteopinia from the prednisone, despite the Fosamax and the calcium. Oh, and diabetes, too. Dry eyes? Fog? oh well, that's the medications as well as the Fibro and the Sjogrens . . . your knee? You have no meniscus left because you reacted to the dye they used for your breast MRI (had to have a lump removed, at least it was benign!), and the swelling shredded what was left of the meniscus. It's too bad for arthroscopy, but since the bone is still good, we can't do a knee replacement, either. Hip pain? you're compensating for the knee . . .. does it ever end? I keep wondering what will be next. T, you are one of my heroes, caring for not one, but two special needs children. My son works with autistic children, and I watch him come home from school exhausted, battered and bruised, because he is the only one on the staff with the physical strength to lift/help some of the older children. I simply cannot image how you manage with this awful condition! God bless you and your partner. On 11/8/06, T <spinningdyke@...> wrote: > > Hi all, > Went for my Remicade today. Guest guest
hang in there, sweetie. I know it's hard, I got blindsided on my last rheumy visit too. (PMR.) My mama's name was , she had RA too. She was one of the toughest people I have ever known, and her sense of humor kept her going. Sounds like yall may have a lot in common! Doctors are sometimes just clueless about all the hats we as women have to wear, aren't they. Hoping a speedy recovery for your and your life partner. God bless. Guest guest
Ebony: Sweetie, don't ever doubt that you were the most perfect mom that your daughter could have had - she chose you because she knew you would take care of her and love her, and you did all that you could. I am also missing my mom more these days, and also it is no doubt holiday related, because my mom loved the holidays and really did them up right. Keeping you and all of the group in my prayers - Kathe in CA > > > > Hi all, > > Went for my Remicade today. Took my partner with me to help me > talk to my rheumy, who we both like alot.
