Guest guest
Hi and Happy Friday everyone. My name is and I was diagnosed with RA about a month ago after about 3 months of tests. I am a single mom of a beautiful 19 month old girl that I adopted from China back in August. She is God's blessing in my life, and what keeps me going!! I am still in the learning process about what all of this means. And figuring out what my limits are before the exhaustion hits. I work full time and used to be very active..running and swimming especially. I still am as active as I can be, with a curious little girl who now walks/runs everywhere. I am on methotrexate. I take it on Friday nights as to not interrupt my work week. I am having horrible brain fog for 24 hours. Also late last Friday night I was hyperventilating a little bit. Is this normal? Does it get better with time? Also, has anyone found that a change in diet helped? Wishing everyone a great weekend,

This is a wonderful group for information, and for support. That is so wonderful you adopted a little girl, I know she is so precious. She will fill your life so full of joy. Are you on any other meds besides mtx? Make sure you take Folic acid. hugs, Tawny --- In , " natsmom823 " <natsmom823@...> wrote: > > Hi and Happy Friday everyone. > My name is and I was diagnosed with RA about a month ago after > about 3 months of tests. > > I am a single mom of a beautiful 19 month old girl that I adopted from > China back in August. Guest guest
Hi, . When I made the mistake of switching Rheumys because mine went into private practice, the new Rummy increased my MTX to 1.2 cc per week, injected. There were no other instructions or advice. I had noticed my tongue getting more swolen and my mouth very sore, but didn't know why. I found out from the good folks on thins board that I needed to raise my Folic Acid from 1 mg per day to as high as 5 mg per day. It seems that MTX removes or displaces the natural Folic Acid and it needs to be replaced. I'm now taking 3 mg per day and my tongue is better and my mouth isn't as sore. I was prescribed a " Gross Cocktail " for my mouth sores but haven't had to use it so far. From my experience, take more Folic Acid and talk to your Rheumy. Guest guest
Hi : Welcome to the group - sorry for the reason you have joined us, but you have found a place where we really do understand what you are going through. You daughter sounds lovely - what a great thing adoption is. Yep, she will keep you up and going at that age! Are you taking Folic Acid along with the Mtx? That will help with the side effects. Also, I take Milk Thistle too, for further protection of my liver. Are you on any other meds? I was dx with RA 8 years ago, and since then have also been dx with Raynauds (which actually came before the RA in my opionion), Fibromyalgia, and osteoarthritis. I am able to still be pretty active, good days and bad, thanks to the medication I am on, and early aggressive treatment of the RA. Hang in there - Kathe in CA Kathe " To ride a horse is to borrow freedom. " __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi : You have the right idea when you say to focus on the big stuff, and let the small stuff slide. Fatigue is just one of those things that hangs around, I'm afraid, some days worse than others, but I seem to be tired most of the time lol. Naps are great if you can do it. Yes, I would say to increase the Folic Acid, I think you can safely go up to 5mg, but be sure to talk with your doctor about it. Hope today is a good day for you - take care Kathe in CA --- natsmom823 <natsmom823@...> wrote: > Hi Kathe, > I am also on relafen. > > yes I am taking folic acid, but the mouth sores are > still happening. > Maybe more folic acid? > > other than the mouth sores, it seems like the mtx is > easier to deal > with, meaning the brain fog and subsequent > " hangover " are less each > week, or maybe I am getting used to it. > > I can't seem to get used to the fatigue though. Guest guest
hi! i was also worried when my 10 month old daughter was fit for the helmet--i didn't want her to become unhappy in any way. she has been wearing it for 5 weeks now, and she is totally fine with it. i couldn't believe how quickly she got used to it. i had a harder time adjusting than she did, but now i am totally used to it also. it has gone by really quickly so far...good luck! > > Hello!
