Guest guest
Hi-- Well, on your list, Aim High Academy is registered as a school. The distinction is important because school districts can only send kids to another school, not to a clinic. Also, Aim High is for older children I believe. The rest are ABA clinics who can handle academic needs in addition to behavior problems. What part of Houston are you in? You may be better off requesting a Functional Behavior Assessment and request that it be done by a BCBA. If the district doesn't have one, then find one who can come in. Does your child have a Behavior Intervention Plan in place? Have the teachers reassessed to see why it isn't working? Do the teachers needs some extra training? All of those are issues that can be handled through the ARD committee. You should consider coming to the workshop that FEAT-Houston is hosting on Saturday talking about these kinds of issues. Also, check the website www.feathouston.org for a complete list of consultants who you could hire to do an independent evaluation. You should probably request an independent evaluation anyway. Just some ideas. Sorry you're having to go through this. Re: Therapist Recommendation (Rosie in Houston) There are several ABA schools around Houston who might do some type of observation of your child or work out a program for him at home - or take him in the school...I'm not sure what you are looking for.
