Guest guest
I've been off the dmard since early July after I fired my doctor for what I felt was unethical practices. I don't know if I'm gonna make it. I've seen a new doctor for initial tests, etc. but don't go back to start something until the 21st. For the last 10 days I've been in the most unbearable pain imaginable, all over. (I have RA, OA, Fibro, Sjogrens and IBS) Does anyone have any ideas for help in the interim? I called and tried to get in earlier but the doc is in San Diego at a conference until the 20th. The Darvocet just isn't helping anymore. Would it hurt me to take 2 at the time? Thanks guys. Happy Friday!
Guest guest
Hi, If your Darvocet said it's ok to take 2 go ahead. If not, you can probably take the extra. My rheum said I can take 2 if pain is bad. Do you use any pain patches. They don't take away my pain but tone it down. Have a nice weekend! Guest guest
It's tough having bad pain and no doctor to address it. I certainly hope that problem is fixed soon. I take MS Contin and was really in bad shape when I couldn't get any for over a week, and had my anti-inflammatory taken away by the Rummy I fired, so I know where you're at. I did take Darvocet for a few years, and doubled up on them a bunch of times. The only thing it did to me was to give me 'melt-down' hot flashes, but I get the same with plain acetaminophen. One thing you can do to help the pain meds is to take one Arthritis Formula Tylenol with the Darvocet. It's been suggested for me by a doctor, so it must be safe. Darvocet has 650 mg of acetaminophen, so you wouldn't be taking too much of it. I typically took 1 1/2 Darvocet tabs 3 or 4 times a day and still couldn't calm the pain much. But even the morphine isn't helping sometimes. Guest guest
I try to use pain patches but yesterday I took one off and it almost took the skin off! > > > > I Does anyone have any ideas for help in the interim? > > I called and tried to get in earlier but the doc is in San Diego at a > > conference until the 20th. Guest guest
Most patches are very sticky. So I take mine off very slowly. That seems to help. They come off easier after my shower also. Guest guest
I've taken Darvocet in the past and it does absolutely nothing for my pain. Tramadol, which is non-narcotic, is even superior to Darvocet. I've even read that folks want to yank Darvocet off the market because it's so ineffective, which leads people to take more of them. I'm sorry that you're going through such pain. I have FMS and recently diagnosed with RA. My rheumatologist, who is wonderful, moved me up the narcotics ladder when things didn't work out (over two years). I'm on Vicoprofen (Vicodin with ibruprofen) which really helps the pain. I've used the lidocaine patches with mixed results. What has helped my back/neck issues is heat, either those Therma pads you can buy in the grocery store or moist heat. I hope you feel better. I truly empathize with your pain. Mine got so bad once I went to the emergency room. Thank God, the doctor believed me and prescribed narcotic.
