Guest guest
Lori (is that right?) I would keep my daughter on the MTX because the long term picture with RA is far worse than some hair loss now. If the rheumy can drive it into remission, she may be able to come off the MTX, and have a normal life for a while, but if this disease is unchecked it can damage the joints to where a YOUNG PERSON could need joint surgery or replacement, and SCARS and REHAB are not pleasant things for young people either. I think I'd try to find some support groups for other kids who are experiencing hair loss for any number of medical reasons, and have her find a group that is accepting of her as she is, so she can be around non balding kids too, and have the strength of knowing she has a place she fits in also. I know you wish you could wave a wand and make it all go away, but you can't. None of us with RA has such a wand, and I know I'd do anything to make my kids' lives happier, the way you want to.
