Humira question

I started Humira 5 weeks ago and have notice the last week my P getting

worse. It actually got much better when I had taken Enbrel but I stopped the

Enbrel at the end of last summer because it did not touch the PA. My psoriasis

has been great since then and barely noticable and now since starting Humira it

is starting to flare. I think this is weird. Isn't this drug supposed to

calm it down? Also I really don't see much help with the PA yet. Does

anyone here have some advice on this? Thanks

Is there anyone on this loop who has gotten very good results on Humira and

is living a fairly normal, pain free life?

My 12 yo daughter just started Humira and I want to know if this is too much

to expect.

Thanks.

Lori~

I didn't have such good luck with Humira or Remicade but have heard much

anecdotal information that both have changed people's lives for the good. My

gastro can't say enough about how many patients both have helped and my

Rheumie has the same praise for both medications.

So, it seems that the overwhelming expectation for your daughter should be a

positive one. I was on 40mg a week. How much was your daughter prescribed?

I wish the very best for her! It's wonderful she has a MOM on the internet

doing research FOR HER! *smiles*

There are people who have great success with Humira... I am one of them! Yes

the shot itself is a pain, but far worth it. I'd rather take the sting other

than telling my 2 yr old i cant play...Your expectations arent too much. I

pray this works for her and she can do all that she wants to do in life... HUGS

I've never used either but I would think you should probably do them separate a

couple days apart. To do them both the same day means there is a lot of

powerful medications hitting your system at the same time and more likely you'll

get sick from them.

<<I'll be using [Humira]. Do I do my injection the same day I

take my MTX or doesn't it matter? >>

My rheumy said it didn't matter, but I took my injection 2 days after

my MTX dose.

It's not much. My insurance covers most of it, but Abbott assists with

part of the copay. Every little bit helps! Be sure you register for

their " My Humira " program. They send info from time to time, plus they

have sent me a book of exercises plus some elastic bands for stretching

exercises plus a book of tips for managing arthritis. Then out of the

blue they sent me an assistance card, for which I'm very grateful.

and a good Medicare Rx plan but Enbrel still ends up costing me about

$4,000/year - which is a lot when you're retired!
