newbie member, hello all : )

I just found your support group so I thought I would drop you all a line.This

website sounds wonderful, and I thought I could use a little emotional support

as well as maybe meet some new friends in the process. I am 49 yrs. old and a

nurse by trade ,currently out on medical " leave " from my job. I was dx. with RA

and OA approx. 3-4 yrs. ago and was just dx. last week with FM. My whole family

has spine problems.The last few yrs. have been a " struggle " for me ( 3 surgeries

last year, 1 which was an anterior cervical spinal fusion at C5-C7 with hardware

placement and allografts) The fusion was related to the OA and was unsuccessful,

unfortunately. I am scheduled for a second surgery in 2 weeks, this time

possibly a double cervical spinal fusion ( anterior and posterior). I have been

a hospital nurse my whole career of 12 years primarily working medical-surgical

floors but all types of specialties. The lifting of patients without proper

equipment or adequate staffing (nursing

shortage) combined with my Arthritic/degenerative problems is what has gotten

me to this point. I do however, remain " positive " , pray every day, and always

look for the silver lining in the clouds. I currently do telephonic wellness

education programs for the Military, and hope to return to my job sometime early

next year. Besides my current problems listed, I have developed a seizure

disorder (dx. in June 06') which I am also being treated for, related to a head

injury at a hospital years ago where I worked. I walk daily in the mountains

where we live since I currently cannot drive due to having seizures. I enjoy

corresponding with anyone , so you may feel " free " to write me back if you
