RA and lupus can present in similar ways, especially in the early stages, so your rheumatologist has to do a little detective work. You might want to ask about imaging of your hands and/or feet. Sorry about your husband not understanding. Did you tell your physician about your depression and anxiety? Not an MD I'll tell you where to go!
