Guest guest
I think some smokers are habituated to smoking. Smoking is a habit you can break if you want to. Then there are those who are physically addicted to smoke. With them it isn't a matter of wanting or not wanting, just that the body demands it. Addictions are much harder to break. Sometimes I have run into situations where someone who smokes decides for one reason or another to stop, and so the just stop. But those addicted have an entirely different problem. But addictions can be broken; it is just much harder. I have heard it said that a cocaine addiction is easier to break than smoking addiction. This is my personal opinion and not anything that I have read. I have come to feel this way because of life's experience and so I could be totally wrong. I have never smoked and having aversion to smoke more than anyone I know. Being next to someone who has been smoking or even someone who has recently been in a room of smokers causes me problems. Because of this I probably have been more watchful than average as to anything relating to smoke. But you can beat it. It won't be easy, but you can do it. God bless you in this. Guest guest
Great job, dreamer! Down to 8 from 50 to 60 sounds like good progress to me, too. Do you think your husband would consider quitting with you? Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Dreamer, what you've done so far is terrific! All of us ex-smokers know what an accomplishment this is. During your attempt, you really need the support of your husband, and the best support is for him to quit with you. That way, both of you can be successful. Your trying to quit is like my experience. My wife had help with her quitting in the form of a serious bout of pneumonia. I was caught off-guard and it took me about a month to finally quit. She kept pestering me with, " You haven't quit yet?? " Keep up the good work, we'll pray that you make it.
