Please join The Disability Law Resource Project (DLRP) at ILRU for a Web cast

on IDEA and 504

Jaquie Brennan, legal specialist at DLRP will present the Web cast: " Special -

and not so special - education in public schools: IDEA and 504 " on Wednesday

March 29, 2006 at 3:00pm Eastern; 2:00pm Central; 1:00pm Mountain; 12:00pm

Pacific; 11:00am Alaska; 9:00am Hawaii.

Students who have disabilities and attend public schools are supposed to be

covered by either IDEA - the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act - or

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. In this Web cast, we will discuss

eligibility for services under each law, how parents can access those services,

what services are available, and what procedures are available when schools and

parents disagree.

Jacquie Brennan is a disability law attorney and staff person with the

Disability Law Resource Project at ILRU. In her 8 years as an attorney, Ms.

Brennan has focused her practice on disability and civil rights issues. Ms.

Brennan's interest in disability law began with her nine children, five of whom

are adopted and have different kinds of disabilities. She has dealt with special

education in public school issues both as a parent and as an attorney. Prior to

her current position, Ms. Brennan was the regional managing attorney for the

protection and advocacy agency in Texas. She serves on many disability-related

boards and advisory committees, and is a frequent presenter on disability and

civil rights issues for professional and consumer audiences.
