Guest guest
>Be very, very, very careful about allowing psychiatrists to diagnose bipolar in your child as a comorbid condition to ASD. Often times, they immediately put them on heavy duty medication with multiple unpleasant side effects when what they REALLY needed was a good functional behavior assessment to find out why they were so anxious and a well designed behavior intervention plan and instruction of alternative behaviors.< I agree with YOU! I also think that most of the doctors that are willing to step outside of the box to treat our kids are the professionals that do trully care about our kids. They run the risk of being ostracized by their peers, blackballed by the powers that be and in some cases, lose their license to practice. They are risking a lot to help children with autism. C.
