Guest guest
I really need some advice. My son is 3 and was diagnosed with moderate autism back in Nov. '05. We have him enrolled in Alvin ISD in the ppcd program. He gets speech & ot 2 times a week but never one-on-one. I took him in to see his pediatrician yesterday and to my surprise he is supposed to be getting more services than he's presently getting. The dr. was shocked to hear that the district is not allowing him to go to summer school nor provide in home parent training. Is anyone familiar with this district and why they aren't getting him what he needs??? Is there any way I can yank him from this horrible school district and take him elsewhere? The teacher he has does not specialize in autism and he is never around normal children. He is the only autistic child in the classroom. They claim that there is a paraprofessional that goes in but I am not seeing any progress with my son. It seems as though I am going in circles. Am I supposed to tough it out and see what happens? He's been in school for 3 months now. Any advice will be appreciated. THANKS
