Guest guest
Some people when they get there symptoms under good control with meds are able to continue working depending on the type of job they do. Most are doing sitting desk jobs. I know I was working in a factory and I had to quit and so far I have not been able to hold any job for any period of time. Mostly because the drugs make a mess of your immune system so I catch everything that goes by and it takes me forever to get over it. I am on disability...but I was able to substitute teach a little last school year. Right now I am working on getting a job working from home. That way I do not have to deal with the stress of others nor all there nasty sick germs they seem to love to give me! LOL But in honest truth if you can adapt you life you many do fine or at leave have more time. So far it did not work for me. Most are on disability!! Guest guest
I am 42 yrs old and was dx'd with fibromyalgia and OA about 10-12 yrs ago. It all seems to be getting worse but I am still working and not even considering not at this point. I would think it would be according to the type of work you do, how many hrs etc.. AND everyone is different and everyones probs are different, their circumstances, how well their pain is controlled etc. I am a nurse and now have an office type job-- I see pts but it is nothing like hospital work. I hurt so bad, I cant sleep and the pain meds are pretty much what gets me from one day to the next. I take it one at the time. I have learned to cope pretty well now. I used to try to fight it but now I know my limitations. I dont think I could personally handle staying home full time.. I am not able to do much more now that work and come home and rest and usually rest all weekend!! Love the weekends-- just rest! This was all very much different when I worked 12 hr nite shifts in the hospital delivering babies! I loved it but it would just kill me!! All that just to answer your question!! --------------------------------- Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs.Try it free.
Guest guest
Thanks a lot, it did answer my question. See the problem is diffrent in our countries, we dont have disability programs or anything that support us. If i cant work then i cant eat or live or do anything and i will go back to streets. So i guess i must save my money for the future. Marwa > > I am 42 yrs old and was dx'd with fibromyalgia and OA about 10-12 yrs ago. Guest guest
Now I understand your comments on money. Having been in quite a few third world countries, I've seen the problems first hand. Money can have a huge impact on a person's life, but it still doesn't fix everything. Just before the Yugoslavia Civil War, I had hired a local man to work for us in that part of the world. He went from a monthly salary of about $250 per month to $2200+! He was speechless for a week. Money does help! I think the lack of disability programs is the reason family ties are so important in the poorer countries.
