Guest guest
Patsy, I am so sorry you get mouth sores. I, too, have had sores on my tongue. Very painful. Anyway, my Dr. sent me to an ENT to have them biopsied! Well, he decided to take it off in out patient surgery. Unfortunately, if you think sores hurt, removal and stitches are much, much worse. The stitches had to be redone 2 times in his office under local spray anistectic. I asked in the beginning if I needed to stop taking the pred and Dmards before surgery, and the ENT said he checked it out and then said no problem. Well the surgical scar did not heal, it took 3 months, and that was because I started oxygen compression therapy at the hospital. The biopsy showed undistinguisable bone and matter, no other problem, except all the Dr. bills for all the therapy that it took to heal the incision. So, please check with your Dr. be very careful what you do, even these painful little critters can be pretty ugly. I now use a prebrushing rinse of either listerine or other wash for dry mouth. You can also get these sores from ingredients in toothpaste. Biotene products do not have that ingredient and are the best, I also use orajel mouth moistener when I have mouth sores because it seems to coat them and enable me to eat. It is also crucial, and I am sure you know this, but brushing teeth at least 2-3 times per day. Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to talk. Guest guest
I am dealing with a few sores (canker-type) right now. Just inside my bottom lip. These have been an issue with me for years, usually when I'm under a great deal of stress they just blossom. If I take Lysine on a daily basis then I don't get them. However, I stopped taking it because I'd been canker free for about 6 months and was tired of taking 'one more pill', so bingo, they're back. Try 1000 mg of Lysine (from any vitamin company) for a few days, then go down to 500 mg. Stay on it for a month and hopefully they won't come back for you.
