Guest guest
Hi all. I have been sick for about a week now, and busy as heck - so I know this post is a little late in coming. As many of you know, I signed up to do the Arthritis Jingle Bell Run/Walk that was held November 5th at the U of C. I had never been before, and there was no info posted anywhere, so I ended up walking all over campus before finding out where I needed to be!!! I started and finished the 1km walk, which is quite an achievement for me, as there have been times over the past 22 months where I have been bedridden and unable to even walk to the bathroom without assistance or a walker. By the time I finshed the walk, and the LONG walk back to the parking lot, I am certain I walked 5km!!! I am proud of my accomplishment, and happy to have raised funds for the Arthritis Foundation. Prior to weight loss surgery, I would never have been able to do the 1km walk without stopping and resting, etc. It was yet another reminder of how happy I am that I made the decision to have the RNY on March 27th, 2003! I am waiting and hoping to do the MS walk/run next srping, so I will keep you all posted. I felt so proud of myself and the fact that I actually did it. Next time, I will try the 5km walk if my health permits it. Anyone care to join me??? I have some pics, and might post them soon. I have lost a lot of the weight I have r-gained over the past 22 months. Haven't stepped on a scale for a while now, but last time I checked, I was down 37 pounds in 2.5 months. So far, so good. Once I hit my goal,I am going for a girl's night out of dancing. I don't care how many pain meds it takes, I am gonna shake my booty off! Seeing as I haven't weighed myself in a while, I will do so on Sunday and give an update - figure I am close to 40 pounds down. I have clothing I bought 2 weeks ago that is now loose on me, but was fitting tight when I purchased it! That's the last time I spend 85 dollars on GAP jeans, but they looked so good! Take care, and will post picks when I am back down to my weight I was post weight loss surgery and prior to gaining due to Prednisone. About 20 to go! Guest guest
, Thank you for your inspiration. I have joined a program at our local YMCA called a weight challenge. For $25 you get free access to any part of the Y and if you lose 5lbs. in 2 months you can join the Y and they will waive the joining membership fee. My husband and I are doing this together. It really helps to have someone do it with you. My husband has lost 30 pounds in 7 weeks and I have lost 11lbs. We go to the Y every day doing 30 min. of cardio daily and we lift weights (use weight machines) every other day. With just a week left to go in the program I am now going to the Y every am at 5:00 to do 45 min. of cardio and then go in the late afternoon/eve with my husband and do it again. On my one day off during the week I also go and take a class at the Y. Sometimes it is Pilates and other times it is exercising with weights. Ok this is getting too long.......I have really been toying with doing a 5k run/walk since I am in better shape. I have always wanted to do one but was in no shape to do it. Walking up stairs used to make me short of breath. Hearing what you did makes me think I can really do this!!!
