July 2006 FEAT-Houston Meeting

Speaker: Leigh Ann Wheat, BCBA

Topic: Skillstreaming Social Skills Training

Location: The Shape of Behavior - Town & Country, 2313 W. Sam Houston Pkwy N,

Leigh Ann Wheat will discuss the three phases in social skills training:

assessment, acquisition and application. The information and techniques are

based on the series of Skillstreaming books by Goldstein & McGinnis. The

techniques are very straight forward and can be implemented at home by parents

or as part of any comprehensive ABA program. Opportunities for role-play and

video demonstration are planned.

Leigh Ann Wheat is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with an M.S. in Behavior

Analysis from the University of North Texas. Leigh Ann has worked in the field

of developmental disabilities for fourteen years and has specialized in

providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to children with Autism

Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities for the past 7 years. Prior to moving

to the Houston area, Leigh Ann was a Senior Associate Faculty in the Autism

Spectrum Disorders Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center in

Rochester, New York. She is currently working part-time at The Shape of

Behavior. Leigh Ann has presented workshops at national and state conferences

and to local audiences of parents, teachers, and paraprofessionals.

Directions:

Exit Hammerly from Beltway 8. The Shape of Behavior is in the business park at

the corner of Hammerly and Beltway 8. The buildings are brown brick (right

behind the Conoco gas station). The Shape of Behavior is in the middle of the

back building.
