Guest guest
I dont know about that. I have to tell you that I didn't know I had to wean myself off and just went off it for about 2 months one time in between rheumie appts. and dropped about 12 lbs. But then I went in for appendicitis and the nurse was yelling at me saying I should have never stopped taking it like that. Also had a major flair after my operation went back on it and gained the weight right back but I guess everyone could be different. Just like my ob said being on the pill does not make you fat..who knows. Pat Murray <patsy56er@...> wrote: I asked my dr if I would lose weight now that I'm almost off the Pred. Guest guest
Regarding weight gain and prednisone... It has been my experience that the weight gain from prednisone comes from 2 causes. One certainly is due to increased appetitie and consequent increase in caloric intake. However, prednisone also causes me to bloat and gives my cheeks a swollen appearance and I also have bloating in my abdomen. Typically, I'm a pear shaped gal, but with the pred I become more " apple shaped. " Currently, I weigh and measure my food and the only variable is my pred intake and I am gaining weight... I guess side effects vary person to person... I wish I didn't have to take it and we are trying to wean me off... Hopefully, it will only be bridge therapy for me...
