Guest guest
Hi Stella. I, too, have auto-immune disease. At first my rheumatologist thought it was Lupus but now they have down-graded it to " Unspecified auto-immune Disease-a Lupus-like Syndrome " . That is an official quote, LOL. I also have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome which is sometime called sticky blood. It is a propensity to get blood clots. When they decided I didn't have Lupus, it was based on the fact that the blood test they do most commonly for Lupus was negative but anecdotally I have had classic Lupus symptoms (and continue to) since I was 12 years old. My doctor said there is so much they DON'T know about AI disease that there isn't a name for what I have but there is no doubt that I have it. AI Diseases can run in families and one person can have several at once. They have given me Plaquenil for the symptoms, the same drug they use for Lupus. I also take aspirin as an anti-coagulant in an effort to stave off having to take some of the really big-gun anti-coagulants like Coumadin. If you are interested, I am in another listserv (a very active one)for people with AI Dieseases. A lot of people there have fibro, too. I would be happy to share the URL. Hugs, : ) Subject: Re: Fibromyalgia /CFS..auto immune??? However, my pain clinic doctor said that wasn't necessarily true. You can't say that fibro is your one and only diagnosis if you have several autoimmune diseases... I have tested positive for autoimmune now they just have to figure out which one has anyone ever had this happen? I do have many symptoms of Fibro and CFS but as I understand it they would not make this test come out positive so they are doing further tests for lupus and the such.
