Guest guest
I find it actually scary that any MD would refuse to treat a patient who smokes. Encourage them not to; of course. But to make a decision to not treat based on a legal lifestyle choice of a patient is wrong. There is a physician in my area who will not see patients who are 20 lbs or more overweight. Obesity also causes many , many health related problems. So does using alcohol. Not following a specific diet if you have diabetes---should a MD refuse to see a patient who won't stick to there diet or loose weight?? I am no longer a smoker, but I would never see a doctor who discriminates against smokers .
