Guest guest
Hi there I've been having synovitis off and on in my knuckles and have had 2 corticosteroid injections in the palmside of my right index finger, one in May and one in September. The whole palm side of my right hand knuckles, right across the palm gets painful and looks swollen. Then, the area along the creases throughout the palm, only on the right hand, gets dry and the skin breaks. After doing a lot of washing, or a bath, the palm looks very wrinkly and even a bit bubbly, while the left hand is fine. The rheumatologist says he doesn't think it is connected to the RA and a dermatologist could only come up with " the creases are deep and thus sensitive to moisture " though he denied any connection to the swollen tendons, synovitis or RA. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? The skin across the main left to right crease (life line?) looks 'pinched' for a better word. It's driving me nuts, but short of going around all the dermatologists, I don't know what to do. If it helps, I have RA and am on AzulfidineEN, 500mg X3; Prednisone 3.5mg, Loxonin 60mg X 3 and a mild anti-depressant, muscle relaxant 5mg X1.
