Guest guest
Quick question: Suggestions for meds to ask for for back pain. I have tried the antidepressants, and morphine, and am on Neurontin and Darvocet. Can't handle the codeine family. I will be talking to my doctor tonight. Am about ready to take the chronic pain classes again, though I didn't get a lot from them before. My back pain has gone from not being able to walk or stand without a lot of pain, to being able to walk and stand better, but snow I get shocks down my legs (left, mainly), when I change position (get up from sitting), or when I turn my head or body. Thanks. Carol
Guest guest
Hi annie, For heavens sake why aren't you on something stronger for your pain? Tell that doctor to try you on something a little stronger like vicodin or percocet. Sorry if I sound irritated but if there is medicine that can help your pain you should be on it! Take care, in Mass. > Hi everyone, > I haven,t posted much lately. Having alot of > neck, spine and leg pain. Guest guest
Hi Annie, I also have a lot of leg pain from degenerative disk disease and neuropathy. In 1995, I had a Spinal Column Stimulator implanted and it makes a big difference with that part of the problem. Mine is made by Medtronic (http://www.medtronic.com/). It may be something to talk to your doctor about, since it can reduce the dosage of pain meds. I still need pain medicine but the last time that the battery went dead I had to increase the dosage quite a bit to make up the difference. Guest guest
He was more worried about my blood pressure. It was 180/110. Luckily, I have good blood pressure. I have a call in for my doctor, and he'll call tonight. I think, a trip to Lourdes is in order. Carol
Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for getting back to me. I will discuss this with my dr. Even partial relief would help. Thanks. I was able to work but the pain is getting worse and I need to do something. I am going to call him today. Guest guest
Carol, Glad to hear your mobility is better. The shocks don,t sound good though.I went to the doctors today. He put me on a muscle relaxer along with the codeine. He said that my stomach wouldn,t be able to handle some of the other meds. He was more worried about my blood pressure. It was 180/110. I have to take a water pill along with the monopril. More pills. Oh well. As long as it works. Hope you continue to do better. annie --- CairnMom@... wrote: > Quick question: Suggestions for meds to ask for for > back pain. Guest guest
Sounds ; likeyou have degenerative discogenic disease. There may be some discs involved that need fusion surgery. It sure changed mine and stopped the pain and numbness and shooting pain. I ended up on my bed almost each day. Talk yo a Neurosurgeon about this. Sincerely, C

This morning, I got through brushing my teeth, then had to decide if it was worth it, standing and reaching for the pill bottles, while moaning, grunting and whimpering, as I reached. Finally decided it was worth it--took a long time to take them. Then, I muttered as I made my way to my office, to get email and answer some. I can't figure what position to try, until the pills work enough for me to stop whimpering:-) The neurontin has gone (as of last night) to 2, 4X a day. The problem is, I COULD get an epidural, but if it lasts, and is still working on January 9 (I think that's the date), when I see the workers comp doctor for an evaluation of the percentage of my disability, then he'd just say I was fine---and the next day, or the day after that, I'd lose the effects. They also made the appointment for a weekday at 9 AM--at a place that takes an hour & 15 minute ride, except with the commute traffic, it could be from 2-4 hours! Soooooooooooo, I'm going the day before, and stay overnight nearby. Not looking forward to that! Carol
