Guest guest
Lu Ann, Do you see any relation between your good/bad days and your dosing schedule? That might help you determine whether it is a herx or a flare. Drink tons of water to flush out the toxins, and try to make the extra effort to eat well even when you don't feel like cooking. Lots of veggies. If your bad days continue to outweigh the good ones, you might want to call the doctor about cutting back on the dosage and building up more slowly. I would also contact the doctor's office if the eye problems continue and let them make the call on that one. You might consider seeing an eye specialist, as these diseases can have some effects on the eyes too. I'm glad you are having some good days too, try and enjoy them and not cram all your responsibilities into the good days. Nurturing your spirit is important too for the health of your immune system. I too have found that family does not always understand no matter how much they want to. Only my sister who has fibromyalgia and OA really understands what having RA is like for me. You will find lots of support here, you only need to ask for it. Take good care, and I hope today is one of those good ones. Write me anytime if you want to chat. Sincerely, Liz G
Guest guest
LuAnn, the blurred vision is a common symptom for fibro. I actually could not read street signs on bad days. It will clear up as you get better. Have you ever heard of taking a warm bath with a half a box of Epsom salts and a large bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the bath water? Dr. Nicolson recommends this and I know some with severe FMS pain who say it helps them. It also gets oxygen into the tissues in a harmless way and may help to kill mycoplasma. Of course, this assumes you are well enough to get in the tub which many of us are not. Keep writing. You are not alone. a C. > > Hi guys & gals - > > Just having a bit of a tough day - been diagnosed with FMS with Franco and > been on the minocin one month now. Guest guest
Hi LuAnn, This sounds like a typical response pattern. Your two great days are really good news. You will have a cycle of good and bad days as treatment progresses. You might like to read our FAQ at www.rheumatic.org/faq.htm for a description of what to expect. Also Sheila's reports of her progress are very useful as a record of how this therapy goes - www.rheumatic.org/sheila.htm. As time goes on, you'll get less bad days and more good days. This cycle can continue for a very long time, but it gradually gets better and better. Chris. Hi guys & gals - Just having a bit of a tough day - been diagnosed with FMS with Franco and been on the minocin one month now. I am having severe back, spine pain - actually pain all over my body - this is moreso than ever before - my eyes have gotten really blurry and I am having trouble focusing more than a block down the street - is this a herx? I had two great days this past week and thought this is too cool - I was ready and here Saturday I am worse than I have been - any thoughts or suggestions would be very helpful - you know how you don't like to continually depress your family - I am going to start relying on you guys - thanks in advance for being there for me. Guest guest
I don't know if it applies to you, but my Rheumy gave me Colchicine for the swelling. My knees would swell so there was no more room in my pants. As I understand it, Colchicine is prescribed for Gout, and it worked for me. I haven't had to take it for almost a year now. You might look into it, maybe it'll help. Dennis [ ] suggestions > Hi guys, > > I need some suggestions. I am having alot of pain swellling. Guest guest
Angie~ I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through and May is still a few weeks away. It would be a shame to go that long with your symptoms and then find out you could have gotten relief. I used to be reluctant to call the Doctors but it's a no lose gamble. Usually, I'm glad I did. And don't be shy about telling them about your pain and that you need an appt as soon as possible. They will sometimes fit you in with a different doctor that has an appt open right away if that's works for you. I'm sure you know all this. Pain takes a toll on your body and something physical is causing your foot to turn out so you need someone to look at you right away~ You're in my thoughts~ IAN [ ] suggestions >> >> >> > Hi guys, >> > >> > I need some suggestions. Guest guest
Please call your physician, Angie. If I were you, I would also be looking for a new rheumatologist. From the start, your RA hasn't been very well controlled. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
GIna, I tried to call today but couldn't get through during my; break time at work. Unfortuantly I cannot find another rheumy there were two by us and the one is the one I started with but it is downtown and my husband doesn't like to drive to it so I switched to this one. I am going to tell him something has to be done I am not ready and 32 to be having so much issues already I know with this disease things happen but I feel I should be having so much pain, swelling and foot turning in already. THanks for all your support you have been great. Thanks Angie > > Please call your physician, Angie. > > If I were you, I would also be looking for a new rheumatologist.
