Guest guest
Hi, a lot of you have mentioned using heat pads. I went to see a physiotherapist a few months ago now, he's blind and very good, but didn't manage to help an awful lot!! But, he did say that I shouldn't use heat pads for RA, I should use cold pads. Heat pads apparently will make the problem worse instead of better, because our joints are already heated up themselves, and putting more heat on them will only help them get worse, and encourage the inflammation. I had his assisstant treating me one time while he was out of town and she used a heat machine to try help me, so I don't know if he is right. He is one of only a few people who have told me this. But I use cold pads all the time now, and they really do help much more than heat. He suggested just 10 minutes on each joint, 2 or 3 times a day, and I really noticed a difference. I really would suggest trying it. Hope this helps, Emma
