,

Have you seen this report on the best hospitals of 2006?

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/best-hospitals/honorroll.htm

You'll be interested to see the rank of those two you recommend in each

of your emails. s Hopkins is rated # 1, and also #1 in

rheumatology. The Mayo Clinic is rated #2, and #2 in rheumatology.

So perhaps you should reverse their order, LOL.

Ha, ha, Sue. Yes, I saw it.

Since they rated the rheumatology specialty by asking 200 rheumatologists

for the best top five (no hard data - on reputation only), and I've been to

Mayo (and thought is was first class), but not s Hopkins, I'm still

giving Mayo top billing.

A couple of years ago, I pestered someone who used to be in our group to go

to s Hopkins. She finally did and gave it a rave review.

The beauty of both institutions is that they use the art of

multidisciplinary consultation to arrive at the very tough diagnoses. Both

also handle a high volume of patients and have a lot of data to work with.

Not an MD

I'll tell you where to go!

That's very interesting to see! Also comforting that 2 of the top

14 are close to me, (I'm 30 miles from Boston) and one was ranked

5th in Rheumatology, the other 8th. So, at least I've got good

resources near by if I ever need them. I know my Rheumatologist,

even though her practice is out in the 'burbs, near me, goes to a

lot of conferences at the Boston hospitals. So she seems to be

right on top of what's going on on the cutting edge.
