Maybe it could be a calcification? I would get a second opinion.

Hi Dawn and welcome to our group!

I am so sorry for the many surgeries you have had to endure, that must be

hard, I empathize with your situation.

I am very interested in hearing more about this . I am glad you are here.

Please Dawn tell us about your implants, are they smooth or textured and are

they saline? Do you have CC now?

Are your breasts tender, painful, swollen or are they otherwise ok?

I had a lump that was very tiny that I discovered in my left breast shortly

after implantation, and before all my many troubles with implants began

however, upon an ultrasound inspection it was determined to be a lymph node.

later when I had the implants taken out, the surgeon said it was some type

of neuroma and not a lymph node, she removed it along with the capsule and

implant. Don't know what it could be if it isn't something like that, unless

it is the valve of your implant. I know that on my implants the valve was

palpable directly behind my nipples if I pressed I could feel it.

Let us know more and what you find out.

And also welcome to the group.

Love,

Hi !

The implants I have are smooth and saline. I don't exactly remember

how many CC's I have now, because my surgeon, Dr. Pound of Atlanta,

continued to reduce the CC's in my right breast after each surgery,

b/c of rapid capsulation. Which kind of defeated the purpose since

the reason I wanted the implants was to balance my asymetry. Maybe

it's 250 in left, and 220 in right, with my left always being bigger

and having more of a " sag. "

Now my left breast hangs low, while my right sits up high, and is

slightly smaller. I must wear a sturdy bra in order for it to

be " almost " unnoticeable. I must say that I am definitely NOT pleased

with my surgeon, although his results with several other women were

remarkable. The implants were put in through my umbilical cord, which

means the only original incision was inside my belly button.

I don't have any other pain or health problems associated with them,

I just don't feel comfortable walking around my own house without a

bra.

As for the lump, my physicians found my case to be " very

interesting, " and they are now discussing it amongst themselves b/c

they are quite perplexed as to what it is. As soon as I hear back

from them, I may contact the surgeon again for further inquiry if

necessary.

I'm not sure if it is a valve, because it is obviously very round

like a ball,

and it's inside the implant, so it shouldn't realistically be

calcification or a lymph node.

Who knows what it could be, with my previous history with this

surgeon, I wouldn't be surprised by much!

Thanks for the response! I'll be in touch!

Dawn,

It sounds like it may be time to get a second opinion, I also think that

this surgeon should be held accountable for his actions.

Please keep us informed as to what you decide.

Dawn, You need to know that the periumbilical approach for putting in implants is not an FDA approved procedure, nor is it endorsed or recommended by any of the implant companies. As a matter of fact, in McGhan's pt and physician information, it specifically states that it is NOT recommended that implants be placed using the periumbilical approach. It is not safe, and there is too much risk of contamination, rupture, and trauma. Doctors should know better than to use this approach. e ----- Original Message ----- From: toi_01 Sent: Friday, February 01, 2002 3:45 PM Subject: Re: Object Inside Implant? Mentor also does not recommend the periumbilical approach for augmentation and it is usually preferred to place the implants in the submuscular position which is difficult with this approach. .

They promote this site often on s website even though it is not recommended . I have seen many women over their bragging about this, yet even in my FDA booklet it states that this will nullify any warrantees the implants come with, make me so sick!
