Guest guest
Hello all, My name is Lori and I've joined the group because my 12 yod has just been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She has been sick for some months now, but it took while to get a firm diagnosis. Currently, she is in a tremendous amount of pain, having trouble walking, sleeping, brushing her hair, etc. She is on 40 mg per day of Prednisone and also taking an NSAID. She's been on the Prednisone since 2/27 when she couldn't walk at all, and did better for about a week, but is starting to get worse each day. I'm waiting for Humira to arrive from our insurance company's specialty pharmacy and it " should " be here some time next week. I can't wait to be able to start weaning her off the Prednisone because I saw what long term usage did to my dad (who had RA from the time he was 22 to the time he died at 68). Her RF numbers are extremely high, as are SED rate and CCP. I am trying to encourage her that once she gets a couple of weeks of Humira under her belt, she will likely start feeling much better. Do any of you have success stories with Humira that you could share with me. I would love to have something very encouraging to say to this sweet young girl of mine who is in so much pain. Thank you in advance for any wisdom you can share. Lori
