Guest guest
Dennis, I don't know if diet is meaningful, but I suspect it is. All I know is if I am good, cut out sugars, eat less meat (I can't totally be vegetarian, I love meat too much), fried and fatty foods, I feel better. My rheumy doesn't seem to think that a certain diet would help. But I'm not so sure... Guest guest
I think maybe going back up on the MTX, although could be both -- the types of food and increase in MTX. It seems mostly everyone reacts to food or has a food allergy but not everyone will be allergic to the same foods. I have heard it said many times milk is bad for RA. In my experience so is soy. So rice milk is best for me. I haven't tried coconut milk but heard that is good for RA. Either way, glad you are getting a little bit of relief from the pain. Hope the new regimen gives you a nice long break from pain. peace, Ebony > > Saturday night is the time we fill our pill boxes for the week and lately > I've been giving myself the MTX shot then. Guest guest
There has been talk in various places about the bad side of dairy products and whole grains. Those are the very products I've been eating for quite a while. Monday was the first really noticeable day pain-wise, and it's been gradually more intense since then, but I'm inclined to think I'm just overdoing it because of the improvement. If it's just a lull in the RA, that's ok, I'll take all I can get! Guest guest
Hello everyone, This is Steph in VA. On the advice of my rheumy, I switched from regular skim milk (I was trying to cut the fat) to 2% Organic milk. I can totally tell a difference, especially when I go to my parents' house or my in-laws because they do not have organic milk. My rheumy's theory was to cut out the hormones & antibiotics that are given to non-organic cows (I put enough chemicals in my body with my meds). Take care, Steph in VA If you get off dairy, be sure to have your vitamin D checked all the time, as I have been off dairy for about a year and a half and had no vitamin D, my bones are thinning and I am now on 50,000 units 2X/week! I feel ALOT better, but need a bone scan at 50! Happy Thanksgiving! There has been talk in various places about the bad side of dairy products and whole grains. Those are the very products I've been eating for quite a while. Monday was the first really noticeable day pain-wise, and it's been gradually more intense since then, but I'm inclined to think I'm just overdoing it because of the improvement. My fired Rummy had increased my MTX injection to 1.2cc, but since I couldn't find a syringe to hold that amount without that #25 needle, I went to 1cc with a #29 needle. It seemed to work the same and would save me a little money. That's one of my downfalls, I look at almost everything as having a particular monetary value. Instructions said for me to take the 1.2cc from a 2cc vial and throw the rest away, but I can't do that. Lately, I've been getting worse and noticed that I get worse as the day progresses, and I wouldn't feel up to doing anything. So, I decided that I'd go back up on the MTX with the larger needle in the stomach only, and at the same time, stopped my usual morning breakfast. Because it's easy to fix and I don't have to stand for long, I'd fix a bowl of wheat bran squares and Oatmeal squares with brown sugar, and some canned fruit cocktail almost every morning. I'm planning to fix myself a 'normal' breakfast again and see if I get worse again. Can diet really be that meaningful?
