You and I sound a lot alike. I don't have digestive enzymes so I have to take Creon three times a day. Have you tried the " Lactaid " milk? It is really good. I have always loved milk, but for too many years could not drink it [still can't have ice cream; but frozen yogurt a good substitute]. As to diet powders, I was thinking about using one of the brands but then read the ingredients. The one thing that keeps me from using that product is the " iron " in it. My system reacts negatively to additions of iron in my diet [other than in vegetables, etc.] and I can't take the chance on trying it. Guest guest
Hi Carol, No, I never have gotten around to trying Lactaid milk. It's one of those things I've meant to check out, but it's gotten lost in the shuffle somehow. Would make it easier than having to take extra enzymes. I just wish the powders were a little more 'something!' tasting. I get to the point where I start to literally gag on them before I get enough in me to really help. You said your system can't handle iron... I'm wondering if there isn't an iron-free version somewhere. I take multivitamins made by Solaray, which has an iron-free version as well as with iron. With so many vegetarian and vegan and specialty products out there, there must be someone. I'll check my catalogs and see. Thanks for the idea, crazy_horse > In a message dated 2/10/02 6:17:23 PM Eastern Standard Time, > crazy-horse@o... writes: > > > > I am lactose intolerant so I have to take enzymes also then if I put it in milk, and then I can't put it in juice because my stomach can't handle juices at all. > > You and I sound a lot alike. Guest guest
Crazy-horse I too didn't like the lactaid. I drink Soy Milk and love it. Marsha
Guest guest
Taking in too much soy( not sure what the acceptable daily levels are), especially for women can have effects on your thyroid hormones- Soy is a plant form of estrogen and acts like estrogen to your system apparently. This is why soy is used in menopause products, to help the body replace estrogen stores or something like that. For many people this is a good thing, but for those who do not need a boost it is not a good thing and can lead to hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's disease. There were studies conducted on birds who were developing goiters, where it was determined it was the soy in their feed that caused it, that is what started the studies. I had done some reading about this because I have a not serious problem (cyst) in my thyroid and I wanted to stay informed on how to prevent any further problems. > Crazy-horse > I too didn't like the lactaid.
