Guest guest
Thanks for your response. I see you know little about telogen effluvium, if you had it as and I have, it's not to be taken lightly. This is a nightmare. I'm sure Feng's anesthesia is not magic and it can promote hair loss too. That is not even the point, she refuses to do mastopexy with local anesthesia with sedation even though many PS do. I have E-mailed her and I know the e-mail was read but remained unanswered. I'm glad Dr. Feng helped you, but she's not interested in helping me. You don't need to make excuses for her. Pearl
Guest guest
Hi Jeena: Actually, I have no bald spots, just diffuse thinning EVERYWHERE on my scalp. What scares me is hair loss from surgery generally grows back in 6-12 months, but mine has not. I won't go under general anesthesia. Period. Guest guest
I'm sorry, I just don't buy that Feng is the only good PS. There are others, I'm just deciding WHO! Thanks. Pearl
Guest guest
I had surgery twice with Dr. Feng. The first time, I had very heavy anesthesia, and the second I had the very light type. You aren't entubated and it is more like a twilight sleep which don't remember. She has a very good anesthesia staff and they can perform different types of anesthesia. I think it is very possible that they adjust the type of sedation you need according to your circumstances. The problem could just be that they are swamped at the moment. When you email it can take a good while to get a reply. If you call, it can also take awhile to get a call back. I am sure they care, but it is unbelievable how busy they are. When I was there, sometimes they were in the clinic til 9, and staff came to the clinic everyday on the weekends, just to care for me and my special complications. I will never ever forget that Dr. Feng came up on the weekends, leaving her family, just to personally change my bandages and take care of my special needs. Believe me...they CARE. There is no staff more dedicated to our needs at the moment. We just need MORE like them.
Guest guest
Jeena do you know who at her office we could talk to about the anesthesia? I talked to who was very nice but she just went on and on about how the anesthesia they use is wonderful, etc. I would really like to talk to someone who maybe more familar with the anesthesia. Thanks megan ----- Original Message ----- From: el_jeena <el_jeena@...> < > Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2002 5:26 PM Subject: Pearl... > I had surgery twice with Dr. Feng. Guest guest
Actually, I have lost my hair. One time I lost it due to anesthesia and then lost it due to implants. I was in total misery! I can really relate. Also, My mother reacted to anesthesia by losing all her hair. She never ever got hers back. She went to dermotologists and they just called it alopecia, but to this day, she says anesthesia did it to her. I just wish we could know more about this. Did your dermo tell you more details about this? And is your hair growing in again? Mine has grown back...or is growing back finally...all but an area in the back which refuses to grow. Guest guest
I can't remember the exact length of time, but it surely seems like it was longer than a year each time. After it happened, I cut my hair off about like a boy (what was left) and I wouldn't leave my house. After I got the wigs, I was a lot happier, but I was praying I wouldn't have to wear them forever. I was so self concious. I couldn't stand to be anywhere near anyone who would get a good look at my head. At one point, I not only had bald spots and thin hair all over, but you could see these HUGE head sores! They would protrude from my hair! I used to scratch them off and make them bleed, but at least they would be " flat " again. Oh gosh...this just sounds SO DARN gross to me now....I am just about to cry remembering it! I am just so sorry you are going through all this honey...but honestly...if you ALREADY are suffering through hair loss and have the bald spots, why not just go get your breasts fixed and have at least ONE THING improve in your life? I really think when it is all over, given time to heal and your system to get over everything, that your hair could come back. You are just so very unhappy right now, which does not help. WHAT do you have to lose?? We are talking about one more surgery and it all could turn around. I am just afraid if you go to someone who is not a wonderful surgeon, you will have another failure. Also, hon...ALL SURGERY is TRAUMATIC and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Anyone is capable of going into shock in ANY surgery. There IS no such thing as a MINOR surgery. Guest guest
Pearl I felt the same way. I am sorry. We will find you someone that will do it right and the way you want it. We will research them down to their high school years to make sure they didn't inhale. LOL. Sorry to joke about but I am trying to keep you in good spirits. Why don't you talk to Dr. Kolb about it more in depth? I haven't read all of the posts prior so I don't know if you did already. Maybe she would be perfect since she has the same illness. Ask her if all of her patients have been happy and see if she has any that have the same illness? She seems to be a well known doctor in this group and with breast implant victims. There must be another patient she has had with the same type of illness. ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2002 5:46 PM Subject: Re: Pearl... Guest guest
I think of Surgeons as artists I guess, they all do different work. But you must speak up and tell them exactly what you are looking for rather than let them just do what they think they would look good. I did that and I got the small areolas I wanted. It was very funny! ----- Original Message ----- From: perlesetlacet@... Sent: Sunday, February 03, 2002 9:35 PM Subject: Re: Re: Pearl... I'm sorry, I just don't buy that Feng is the only good PS.
