Hi :

I know that it is a very long drive, but perhaps you

could stop and rest somewhere in the middle, say an

hour into the ride, and then keep on going. It is

imperative that you be seen by a rheumy, it is your

life I am talking about.

RA, if not controlled, will begin to eat away at your

joints, cause deformities, and can affect your heart

and lungs. Not to scare you, but this is a serious

disease, and prednisone is just a bandaid to make you

feel better. You need to be on a DMARD, if not Mtx,

which upsets your stomach, then something else like

Plaquenil, Arava, or even a biologic, but you need to

be on something that will act to try and stop the

disease process, and thus the deformities and the

pain. An anti-inflammatory is usually also

prescribed.

I know that your doctor is trying, but she is not a

specialist in RA, and that is what you need right now.

Please, go the distance, hard as it may be to do so,

but if you have someone to take you, please do go to

the rheumy. It will make such a difference in your

life, and in your pain levels, and will put you more

in control of what is happening to you.

My best to you, kiddo, and I hope that you do go see

this rheumy, and see her soon. Prayers coming your

way - hang in there -
