Hi Sierra,

I have a question. I just answered 's question

concerning his mothers MTX with folic acid. I told him

that my rheumy just told me that taking it the day of

blunts the effect so you shouldnt. THEN went on to

read the rest of todays conversations...including

yours. Now I'm all nervous that the info Im getting

might not be right. I really trust my doc so that is

not the question, Im just wondering if the method

yours is giving you might not be better. Ahh! So

many opinions and methods, what's an arthritic to do!?

Can you tell me what exactly your doc told you about

it. Thanks,

I started out on 1 mg/day like most people taking MTX, but when

fatigue became a problem, she told me to try taking 3 mg/day on the

day before, the day of, and the day after MTX and to take 2 mg/day on

the other days. She said some of her patients take as much as 4-5 mg.

a day. She teaches rheumatology at our state's University and was

voted one of the top 7 rheumatologists in our metro area by her

fellow physicians for a city magazine. She's good. Not perfect, but

good.

I'd recommend doing your own research about it on the Web. You can also

get a second opinion. Best of luck!

Thanks Sierra. I will look into it. Im on 10mg of MTX

and I think that's too big of a dose to mess around

with so I will be doing some research. I'll keep you

posted if I learn anything interesting.
