Guest guest
Hi again. I know, I pop in and out here a lot. I am holding my smoking down to approx 10 cigs a day, which is a GREAT improvement! (down from 60 or more a day) I talked to my new rheumy on the phone, he was pleased with that progress. He was even teasing me, and I was crabby and suly with him, I even called him some names. He had originally put me on 10 mg prednisone 3 times a day, but, I got very manic and out of control on it almost immediately and with also trying to quit smoking, it was pretty unpleasant. (I did not sleep for 3 nites) So, I went down to 5 mg 3 times a day...but....then everything swelled up and hurt so bad, so fast! YUK! So, I am pretty frustrated. My lil dude had an eye appt (he was going weekly for post surgical follow up) and the eye doc " reminded me " he had also removed my sons eye lens during surgery. I had not remembered him telling me that before. No wonder my son has no vision at all. The good news is we got to stop the several 4 tiemes a day eye drops. When my fingers or wrists swell, it was so hard to do them, and they burned my sons eye and made him cry. We had a mini celebration for being able to stop the drops. LOL. Today is is birthday, he turns 11 today. He is pretty excited and took Zingers to school to share with his class. :-)
Guest guest
Dear Dreamer - Congratulations! You're a hero! It's hard enough to give up smoking under normal circumstances. Then, when we have to deal with the chronic pain, aggravation, frustration, etc. of life with RA, I think it's natural to want to hold onto at least some of our habits that bring a bit of comfort. Of course, some of those habits aren't so great for us! I've never been a smoker, but I've held the hands of many friends as they went through giving up smoking. It's a huge challenge, and you deserve applause and gentle pats on the back for cutting down. Happy birthday to your dear son. Wishing you both many joyous returns. Guest guest
Congratulations Dreamer! That is a major accomplishment. I know how difficult it is, but when you totally kick the habit, you'll wonder how and why you ever smoked in the first place. Your nose and taste buds will come alive. Sorry you're in so much pain. I hope you feel better soon. Happy Birthday to Lil Dude! So happy he got the gift of loosing those drops! We call my son Little Dude. It fit when he got the name, but now that he's 6'3 " , it seems to not fit so well LOL! a On Apr 19, 2006, at 1:03 PM, dreamer_plus wrote: > Hi again.
